I won't have a bad word said about The Magic Numbers ....sure, they may not look very much like a band and they are probably uncool (your Mum will love them!) but they are still f*cking great.

In a parallel universe where beautifully crafted, summery pop songs with perfect harmonies that make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside are actually rewarded, this band would be number 1 for weeks....oh and the lead singer is called Romeo.....what's not to love?.....

The single's #6 in Woolworth's chart, very nice to see.

Why did this never happen to Cosmic Rough Riders or Teenage Fanclub?

They're the Mamas and the Papas for the 21st century.

Which is no bad thing.

Got the album...and as an oldster,I can say they sound NOTHING like Mamas & Papas or Cranberries..very nice album..just saw them on tv and they looked like a bunch of buskers..the production is not polished on this..but they do have some great songs..
Elements of Nick Drake in his voice and the music is never over done..very Folk but very NOW!

where the Mamas & Papas stuf comes from ,I do not know..Lazy journalists ,no doubt..I will concede that the whole band got hit by the ugly stick bigtime!!

I saw them when they supported Franz Ferdinand at the Teenage Cancer Trust gig. It was before the single had got any airplay and probably most of the audience had never heard of them. Myself included. They played a brief acoustic set which made them sound very sixties and folky, except for the melodica which always sounds like something off an Augustus Pablo dubplate.

Suddenly they have been saddled with this "as recommended by Nick Hornby" label so presumably there are blokes of a certain age all over the country trying to decide whether to file them under "M" or "T".

They collaborated with The Chemical Brothers on the track Close Your Eyes, which is one of my favourites from Push The Button

Does the singer have a beard so not to be confused with the bass player?

I saw them play a little album launch set at the Virgin Megastore in Oxford Street on Monday. They were really good - loved Forever Lost and was curious to hear what else they could come up with, but really liked what I heard!

The video for Forever Lost is really cute too......

I'm still to be totally convinced. I want to like them, but they could be another Polyphonic Spree (sounded good to start with, but after a while just grating).

Album's very good. Mornings Eleven is a great song to open with.

Saw them supporting Doves, and I'd go as far to say that they were better than the main act.
