Upto BB3 I watched and picked a favourite on which one I would most like to be within a group of friends of mine and I could enjoy their compnay.

I got so sucked in to BB3 that I have never looked at another BB with the same eyes and now just want them to entertain me.

It means I can dislike and like them all for different reasons and it also means that once its over for the year I will check to see what they are upto a month after BB finishes and thats it.

I have no loyalties to any of them and don't get worked up as much when something awful in the house affects them.

I'm going for entertain me again this year.

Which one are you opting for ?

entertained, how can a group of people you will probably never meet be considered your new best mates? Plus in my case they are over two hundred miles away.

Anyway bet they never write, return your phonecalls or even send you an e-mail or a Christmas Card.

tend to form a favourite after about 4 or 5 weeks though my favourite also changes regularly...couldnt decide who I wanted to win last year as it changed frequently.

I'd like to be entertained without having to watch a circus sideshow this year

*edited to add: That means if anyone walks in on launch night wearing fancy dress or a thong I plan to switch off and do something else instead all summer

Geez........that's a hostage to fortune, I'm expecting at least six of them to walk in wearing nothing but thongs........

I know what you mean, rachel..........I think in BB2 I kind of experienced the feeling that the HMs became chums in my living room for the summer, and I got to like/dislike/care about them.

Similar but not to the same extent with BB3...........definitely not since.

I can't imagine that I will 'care' about the BB6 housemates. TBH I can't even really imagine that I will like any of them.

I just want them to give me material for barbed comments.............

Of course we're looking to be entertained but I always like to have a HM I can get obsessive about. I need to weep if they win. I need to weep if they get evicted.

I think you just need to weep

I like to mentally sort them into people I might enjoy a conversation with and people I'd enjoy chasing through the woods with a crossbow...

It's supposed to be good for you, especially we repressed British chaps.

I dare say I'll have a favourite HM - its almost inevitably one who has nochance whatsoever of winning but who amuses me. Any victory for them is a source of great amusement to me and their eventual demise is accepted with sad resignation as an inevitability. I then pick another HM until I run out of options (usually the final four stage)

I'd want them to entertain me primarily, but I'd hope my favourite would be the sort of person I could go for a pint with.

I don't approach BB with any hopes or expectations. I take each one as it comes. In BBs 1-4 I saw people who I liked or disliked. Who entertained me ( not necessarily the ones I liked best as people). Found myself picking favourites for different reasons. I was a fan of the programme rather than any individual housemate. That all changed last year when I found myself totally and hopelessly fascinated, intrigued and entertained by one particular housemate from the outset.

I hope that won't happen this year.

I got very attached to some HM's in BB2. BB3 became more about who I didn't want to win, rather than whom I did.

Both years were exciting for different reasons.

Since then I've decided to dislike everyone from the start and take it from there.

It's entertainment for me - in the real world I hate to see peeps having their heads played with - on BB it's what they've signed up for.

In Ck's world only BB can get away with playing though!

Entertained deffo think thats why i liked the JC's a lot the constant plotting entertained me. That said Stu reminded me of some of my own mates anyway so think i'd probably get on well with Stu.

I think the same as some of the previous posters, I cared about the HM's in BB1. I liked the majority of the HM's in BB2 (with the exception of Narinder and Stuart) and missed them when the series finished I actively disliked most of the HM's in BB3 and cheered when they were evicted. BB4's HM's I was completely indifferent to, didn't like or dislike them. BB5's housemates horrified me, they were far too media savvy and all of them, without exception were in there for the fame. BB6 I'm hoping will be an amalgam of the five previous series, but I do believe it will be a repeat of the sort of miscreants that populated BB5

Excellent post Rachel.

On BB 1 & 2 , both of which were well started before I got sucked in properly I liked Anna and Helen because I liked them the most.....best friend scenario.

BB3 was a total different ball game. It was a case of who do I dislike the most almost.

I wanted Kate to win in the final week because I think she had suffered the most, but I liked Jonny & Jade was pure comic genius although she was so nasty to Sophie I could never warm to her as much as I may have.

BB4 was different again.

Cameron was my fav to start with but Jon soon took over because he was engaging. All the othes were numpties to me, I had nothing in common with them, Nush was OK though apart from the yoga thingy.

So BB5 comes along yadiyadiya. Jojo sides with the Junglecats I liked Vanessa & Shell , Victor & Jason but by the end of it, when Nadia won she was the one i had warmed to the most. I still wanted Jason to win but I thought I was the only person on earth to think that way.

I havn't a clue about this years HM. Will I love em. hate them not care ? ... but all my thoughts on all the HM will be recorded in a diary / blog

Got to agree with a lot of what has already been said. For me, up to BB3 I took more interest in the HMs as people.

BB2 will always mean a lot to me, probably as that was the year I also got into reading the forums, joining some and of course having the interactive addition on the telly for the first time seemed to add a whole new dimention to the show, it felt like we really had the chance to get to know these people and by and large they were a likeable bunch. BB3 was very similar, the people still seemed more natural and like them or no I could feel that it mattered to me.

From BB4 on it has felt like I view it all differently now, I still like watching BB but I feel more distant and detached than before, the housemates are no longer ordinary people brought together to see how they'd get on they are almost pantomime characters in a loosely scripted but largely adlibbed play. More and more of them seem to be using BB as a platform to go on to other media careers and appear to be using the majority of their time in the house as an audition.

For this reason I'm just looking for entertainment this year.

I always look to be entertained...but I rarely find people I dont like entertaining

I always try not to get emotionally envolved....I want to be detached and objective..but who I go for and how I feel about them really depends on who walks through that door

I want to be entertained. I didnt see too much of BB2 for various reasons, but am happy not to have a freak/wannabe show and just see the housemates interacting, fighting bitching whatever. I would rather just let them get on with it.

Excellent summary EF...........that's exactly what I think.

I hope they have some amusing people on this year........housemate angst is getting a bit dull now.

I'm sure I'll end up with a favourite and I'm sure I'll defend them to the bitter end but I won't be expecting another Dean or another Anna.

I'm just hoping for someone I don't passionately despise and with any luck someone who's prepared to mix it up a bit.

Entertainment again for me.
