As I said in my earlier post, you cannot set up a direct debit from a credit card account.
What your links show is the fact that some people do not fully appreciate this, hence my earlier clarification. Similarly, some people do not understand the difference between a standing order and a direct debit.
When you set up a DD mandate, that instruction will always include the DD logo, the words 'Instruction to your Bank or Building Society to pay by Direct Debit', and you must always be provided with a copy of the Direct Debit guarantee for your retention.
None of this is ever provided by a credit card company when you wish to pay for something using a credit card as you cannot set up a direct debit from a credit card account. Hence you are not afforded the safeguards under the DD scheme.
