Reality TV Question

Hi all,

Just a quick note to ask, has there ever been a Reality TV winner from an ethnic minority ?

The reason I ask is that, Tim from the apprentice has been heralded as the first black reality TV show winner, this is technically not all together true as the public were not voting for the winner on the apprentice.

Can someone explain why when the public is voting, we never seen a winner from an ethnic minority ? could it be that inherent predjudices are demonstrated by the voting patterns ?

Well not a Big Brother winner. I dont think it is inherent predjudices at all. I have not voted for a housemates from an ethnic minority, not because of their race, but because I have either not agreed with their views/behaviour or because I like someone else in the house more.

I doubt I would even consider race when voting, its about their personality.

America`s Next Top Model was won last year by Eva, a black American. But then again........that wasn`t a viewer`s vote either.

Australian Pop Idol two years ago was won by Guy (I forget his second name) who was Aboriginie. That was by viewer`s vote.

Just going to say the same.

You could also argue Brian, who was from the republic of Ireland, winning a British show..

No but that wasn't the question. The question was regarding ethnic minorities, not black or asian.

I think the OP is talking about UK reality shows, American ones always have winners from ethnic minoritys.

The only black winner voted for by the public is from little known LivingTV reality show I'm Famous And Frightened in which Rustie Lee won.
Two black men won Popstars the rivals aswell.
Other than those three, Tim from The Apprentice is the only one.

Well if black and asian people are going to be classed as an ethnic minority along with white ethnic minorities then my answer is still ..... we've had one .... Nadia.
