Take a look at this forum:

http://forum.digitalspy.co.uk/board/...d.php?t=222126

new channels have a appeared on freeview, and one "705" (700s are interactive streams) is likely to be a big brother live stream. This could be the "TBC" for Freeview viewers in the Press Pack.

You can throw away your Sky boxes if that's true.

Keep Sky, but throw away NTL who won't have any red button service

I've just read through the relevant bit of the press pack and it's saying it is DEFINITELY going to be available on Freeview - I can't see anywhere it's still saying TBC

Quote:
“From Press Pack

CHANNEL 4 TO LAUNCH E4 ON FREEVIEW

Channel 4 will launch its digital entertainment channel, E4, on the Freeview platform to coincide with the start of the sixth series of Big Brother at the end of May.

Big Brother fans in Freeview homes will be able to join those with satellite or cable in accessing live, round the clock streaming from the house, with E4 joining the free-to-air digital terrestrial TV service for the first time.

Channel 4 will launch time-shifted channel, E4 +1, on Freeview, at the same time.

E4 will continue to transmit on satellite exclusively as part of the Sky Digital package, as a continuation of its existing carriage deal with BSkyB.

Andy Duncan, Channel 4’s Chief Executive said: “E4’s launch on Freeview will make one of digital TV’s ‘must-have’ channels available to 12 million new viewers.”

E4 launched on Sky Digital and cable in January 2001, with home grown programme successes such as Banzai and Trigger Happy TV and quickly developed a reputation for bringing the best in US acquisitions to the UK, including Friends, ER, The Sopranos and The OC. In just four years on air E4 has established itself as the UK’s second most watched digital channel amongst 16 to 34-year-old viewers (BARB, 12 months to 2004).”

Sounds pretty definite to me

Throw away NTL too. Get a freeview box instead of any of them.

Could explain why e4 are still showing a lot of repeats. They know most viewers will have a stream.

Yip. The BBC, ITV (coming soon), Channel Four, The Hits and Sky all have red button or text services.

I'll be incredibly happy if this happens, and very annoyed if it doesn't, seeing as they're putting bloody E4+1 on Freeview, when it could be a live stream. We need the live stream, people...y'know, when the 72 episodes of Friends are on.

NTL still haven't sorted it out yet?

Oh well. I have to find some time to eat and sleep so it's probably not a bad thing.

I thought they should have launched E4 and BB Live channel, then swapped BB Live for E4+1 once BB was over, but if this happens that is better.

I've always thought that too, BB live streaming would be a much better use of a spare channel than E4+1.

Well it does specifically say in the bit I quoted above:

Quote:
“Big Brother fans in Freeview homes will be able to join those with satellite or cable in accessing live, round the clock streaming from the house”

I've gone back and re-read the information regarding interactive in th press pack and it doesn't say TBC, it just says more information will follow.

So it sounds as though it's happening to me.

Will it provide you with an account you have to pay? I don't think so either.

Am I being thick, but I've read this as E4 will only be available on sky, Freeview will be getting E4 + 1?

It says people with cable, but it's been said that they WON'T get a separate live stream, and will have to watch BB Live when E4 decide to show it...inbetween the Friends repeats. That's the point I was making, and the information that's lacking from the press pack. When it says round-the-clock streaming, it means 18 or so hours.
