New Oasis album - Heathen Chemistry
Dan27
22-04-2002
Hi. Ive just finished hearing Heathen Chemistry. Its a good album, stronger throughout than Standing On The Shoulders Of Giants (ie Standing has a few better songs, but much more "filler").

Id give it a solid 7 1/2 out of 10, however it isnt as good as Definetly Maybe, Morning Glory or Be Here Now... its still much better than most of the music out there.. now I cant wait for the Chili Peppers new album..

hehe. Theyre already on my MP3 jukebox..

check out http://www.nme.com/news/101481.htm . Oasis say that the recordings were taken from a pocket recorder in the studio and that the final album version is much different. Well the version ive got fades each song into each other and damn well sounds like the finished album to me.. you can even her some clicks when the CD ripper has found scratches when taking the mp3s from the CD..

Since no moderators have posted here is the guide how to get the mp3s

1) go to www.deja.com

2) search for the following words http heathen chemistry again

3) open up the post created by "Mr D" on 11 Apr 2002

4) open a new browser and copy/paste the urls.

5) save the files and open them using winzip

These files are a rip from a CD of the new album (clicks can be heard on the last two songs but they dont last for long). These are 160kb encoded mp3s and are better than anything found on the net at the moment.

Enjoy

I'm not a Oasis fan. but I listened to this album and it is great. I got Standing On the Shoulder's as a xmas present and this album is much better and and stronger than Standing On The Shoulders.

although the existing mp3's are of a pretty decent quality (apart from the clicks and pops in quite a few tracks), it's not the final version of the record thats gonna be in the shops. as quoted by oasis management....

"We hope anyone who has downloaded the tracks enjoys them but does not take them as any indication of the finished album which has come a long way since these recordings were made... they are a very poor substitute for the
finished record."

so, make of that what you will. btw, the album is scheduled for release on july 1st

The same statement also said that the recording was done by a personal tape recorder smuggled into the studio, where as the MP3s I have indicate clearly that it is ripped from a CD.. I by no means claim this is the finished article, but it damn well sounds like the proper album to me.

I imagine Oasis are trying damage limititation to hide their embarrasment.

or to protect their investment from thieves who think they have a god given right to take music without paying for it

halibutgoatramble, if you are refering to me then let me assure you that I will buy the album when it comes out.

It is also not unusual for groups to leak out these recordings in advance. I have many friends who know for sure this happens, and it happens a lot more than we think.

If you had the chance to listen to one of your favorite groups' new album a couple of months in advance would you? I thought so.

What's your favourite track out of the 11?

For me, it has to be Stop Crying Your Heart Out. This is a classic and will be a cert for number 1.

Yes, I like that one as well hutchio. I think there is quite a few strong single candidates off this album, a few more than Standing On The Shoulders..

For me, there were only three good tracks on SOTSOG(Go Let it out, Roll it over and Sunday Morning Call) but with the possible exception of Songbird, i like pretty much all of them on the new album.

Hi guys, I downloaded the tune from the link you showed. But I can't get it to work. I think I've used winzip already on my computer for something but for some reason when I search for the winzip file, there are no search results. When I usually download a compressed file, to open it all I have to do is right click it and then click extract and then the extract wizard box appears. There is no option to extract this file.
Please could someone help me.
Cheers

Make sure you have downloaded the whole file. For me sometimes it downloaded 4 5ths of the file and then for some reason completed. This can be very frustrating if you're got a 56k modem and the file is 6.84MB(track 10). It happened twice to me.

Also try 'Open with...' and then select winzip.

Get a download manager to download the files. Use one such as Getright which you can find on

http://www.download.com/ . This prevents things like that from happenning and resumes the file for you.
