Orange WAP
mdma
27-05-2005
after recently changing my phone to the d500, i noticed that i couldnt connect to wap via dial up.

i phoned orange today to ask them to resend the settings through, only to be told "here you go, but GPRS is down at the moment" i explained that i dont want the GPRS settings (which already work) its the dial up settings i want, to which i was then told that "nobody uses that method anymore, and that they dont have the settings"

i under the reason for using GPRS over dial up, however, i dont use WAP very often, and when i do i want the minutes to come out of my talkplan!!!

The error i get is "network unavailable" so does this mean that dial up wap is no longer used on orange?

dial up is being phased out, gprs is the way forward and its cheap as chips 1200 pages equals 1 mb equals £3 or take the orange world bundle 4 mb per month for £4

Even with 1 bar on 2.5G you should be able to get GPRS on your phone - so something is wrong with your phone, not the network - but if you insist on having CSD settings...

You can get the settings yourself here:

http://setup.orange.co.uk/

Choose WAP, your model of phone, and then choose Orange CSD.

If the pages you browse are filled with graphics and you're browsing on a colour phone then GPRS can work out more expensive! My monthly allowance lasted a long time when using a 6310i (mono). When I switched to a 6100 (colour) my allowance was quickly used up.

If you choose 'WAP' from the main menu, then choose your phone, then choose CSD...

if there is no option for CSD, then your phone doesn't support it.
