She seems so different to the beginning, and she didn't look happy in that costume, was she made to wear it?

Who knows, all the entrances seemed a bit OTT this year. Maybe they were "encouraged" to ham it up a bit.

Well compared to Jason's entrance last year, this entrances were mild in comparison.

Yes, she probably had to play up to the persona that got her chosen, but it's what she does from now on that counts.

She could be out of her depth or she could shine... I hope that she shines

Mary was pressured by Endemol to wear the costume! she picked the broom for BBLB, but then Endemol found out about it and pressured her to wear the cloak and broomstick. She did not enjoy wearing the cloak and broom, nor did she want to...Endemol pushed her into it for the cameras during her entrance which has marred her initial experience of BB.........SHAME ON THEM!!!

she discussed this with the housemates at 0345am and BB did not edit it or block the sound!

actually, they have just started to cut the sound from the conversation! what a bunch of evil bastards endemol are!

It certainly seems now that she was pushed into wearing that, after hearing the conversation etc i really feel very sorry for her.

They cut the sound out about them making her wear it, total disgrace, you just picked up the beginning and the end. But yeah the broomstick was chosen for BBLB and they wanted her to hav that and the cape. DISGRACE.

I really feel VERY sorry for her now. Its a shame that happened. Once in a lifetime thing and she gets booed at.

SHAME ON THE PEOPLE WHO BOOED
SHAME ON ENDEMOL

Yes its fairly clear what happened.

She mentioned her witch outfit and their little eyes lit up (and you can't blame them) - then they talked her into wearing it. But she did say that she came round to the idea because she would feel protected in her cloak and hat. The real problem is that she turned the wrong way, got flustered and then the mob smelled blood...

Rubbish. If youve never been in a situation pressured into something, youll never know.

Plus, the crowd shouldnt have booed, I thought it was a great touch.

I don't see why its evil - they are just trying to produce entertainment. I don't recall people ever being booed IN to the House before - why would they have predicted it. If you want to blame anyone then blame the crowd!

Or just blame them both , like you should.

Id have guessed the crowd might not be happy if it looks like someones showing off. (Reallyreally showign off) Like that idiot who did show off, lying down and stuff.

I'll accept blaming them both, Dawa, quite happily. The guy who was lying down is truely memorable isn't he - I can't remember his name either!

I think this is the point why some may suggest it's evil.

They deliberately make her look a stereotype that they have a good feeling that might make people hate her.....for entertainment.

The way that it sounded that they pushed her into wearing that costume suggests that they felt it would get a reaction from the crowd.

It's quite common for BB to try and present "different" people in a bad light.

Same thing, they would have persuaded her too that it would be a good idea.

They did the same sort of thing last year with Jason and his thong.

There was even talk last year of certain housemates having clauses in their contracts, or expectations to do certain little things.

The video tapes are so obviously the contestants being persuaded to really say controversial things for effect.
It would probably be the same this year, as it was last year.

Why didn't she just say "no"?

Also: why believe her? Maybe it was her idea, but after the boos she realised it wasn't a good one and decided to blame BB.

I've seen claims that Mary thinks the gnomes are alive. Really? And she got past the BB psychiatrists? Or do they not try to weed out housemates who are insane?

I've seen claims that there were going to be 24 housemates!! Just because you have seen it doesn't mean its true now does it.

However, Mary could be the clone of my colleague and on that basis alone I am wondering how she got past the BB psychiatrists.

Sorry Alrightmate - Ck was being tongue in cheek

Leslie seemed to love wearing it whereas Mary did clearly look uncomfortable.

I like Mary but from what i've seen so far she is very weak willed. She could get sympathy for this but she only has herself to blame.

Veri, do you have to argue with every single post I ever make?
It's just that sometimes I wonder if you're just arguing for the sake of it.

She didn't say no because she said yes.

I believe her because she didn't sound like she was lying.

I believe Mary believes what Mary says she believes in for the most part.
I don't believe she's insane just by what we've seen so far at all. She just has an uncommon belief system.
I don't think she's any more insane than someone who is Christian is insane, or someone who is Muslim is insane.
At least I doubt she causes as much harm with her beliefs as others might with theirs.

I agree, Mary really did look like she was caking herself.
But I also felt that lesley looked a bit insecure and was putting up a bit of a front (if you pardon the expression )
She sort of looked a bit shaky but was hiding it better than Mary.

I do think that she is shy and a bit insecure, certainly.
I don't know about she only has herself to blame. That makes it sound as thought she's done something really bad.
Made a mistake, yes, she probably has. Some of them in there will have turned out to have after they are voted out.

But if it's a blaming situation, I think more has to be apportioned to the people running the show, and the crowd itself.
Nobody asked anyone to boo her, Mary wouldn't have known how it would have turned out, but the show creators certainly know what angers crowds.

Why should she be booed?
For wearing a gown and holding a broomstick?
I can think of better reasons for someone to be hostile for.

I don't think that's what I'm doing.

I'm not disagreeing specifically with you in this thread. (I didn't quote your message, for instance.)

I thought I was agreeing with you (and adding a comment) in the "black winner" thread.

I can't remember the details of other cases (I've been up all night and am pretty tired), but only a few are posting now, and you tend to post interesting messages, so that may be why I end up responding to you.

It's hard to say. Why bother with an internet forum at all? I don't know.
She didn't say no because she said yes.
But presumably she could have said "no", so why didn't she? As for believing her, I am very cynical about this lot. Something doesn't feel right about them.

Believing that the gnomes are alive (if she does) seems more insane to me.

Can I just jump in and point out that believing gnomes are alive isn't a normal part of a witch's belief system...
