Quite impressive as last night was so hot and lots of potential viewers would have been out enjoying the weather.

Wonder what CLI got

What are the CLI ratings? Someone must know...

I heard CLi got 3 million, but DS haven't confirmed it or anything so I'm not sure.

Less than last year.

I think 7 million is a bloody good start, considering that BB had a bit of competition from Celebrity Love Island, and the Kumars. Also, the advertising campaign this year was no where near as big as last year. Plus, as it was so hot yesterday, lots of people would have been out enjoying the sun. Considering these, factors,7 million is very impressive.

So far, things are looking good this year. At the start of last year, so many people hated the housemates, but there's not as much bad feeling this year (although there is a little). All the newspapers seem to have taken well to this years show too.

No one has mentioned that last year it had a 9 million lead in from the last ever Friends episode. It did great this year.

Yeah everybody was expecting lower ratings due to the lack of a lead-in/lower publicity. It sounds like a lame excuse but - yeah - it's the truth really, 'Will & Grace' has gradually become more and more of a ratings loser and certainly can't compare to the final ever episode of Friends!

Wednesday's ratings will be interesting though - BB & Desperate Housewives finale!

Plus Davina is hosting Wednesday's show.

Big Brother - 5.8 million
Have I Got News For You - 4.9 million
Celebrity Love Island - 2.2 million

Last year the opening show got a 6.7, I kept last years ratings on my computer.
