too young?
subx

It seems to me that over the years younger housemates rarely have a great deal to say that it interesting. They may do other things that are entertaining and also act as a good contrast to people who can actually form complete sentences but on their own they don't offer much.

Yet for some reason this year BB have seen fit to pack their house full of people under 25, in fact if you discount the three people over 30, the average age of the rest is less than 22 (yes I'm sad enough to have worked that out ).

They'll probably end up with lots of "crazy" highlights for their Ch4 shows, but I suspect it'll be at the expense of the live stuff that could soon become very tedious.

I've said before that at least half should be over 30 but they seem more interested in people who are willing to make tits of themselves

I agree I'm not as young as I once was and it would be great to have HMs (at least four) in my age group to watch

In the past the older HMs become isolated and usually get voted out with little chance of ever winning, ie Sandy. Ahmed or Lynne to name but three

I agree, a better mix would be nice. HM's in their late twenties eraly thirties would likely be more interesting and still up for outrageous behaviour.

It is top heavy with youngsters three aged 19, for goodness sake. Very similar to BB3 but even younger, remember the baby was Jade that year.
Expect rows and alot of noise if the 'babies' stay in.

Off the top of my head; Sandy, Ahmed, Stuart (BB2) Penny - All over 30 and totally out of their depth on the show..

Although to be fair mostly because they were out of place with the other housemates, not with BB itself.

There's probably less and less over 30's applying these days.
Wasn't the previous youngest contestant 20? (Stuart last year?) So, 4 housemates have beaten that this year.

Have you seen any of the rejected audtion tapes I'd say there were a lot more over 30's applying this year some looked old enough to be my gran's gran

Even if the younger one's have an interesting idea they are very poor at articulating it.

The older one's have not been successes in the past because they felt isolated. If there was a complete spread of ages I'm sure you would get more interesting interaction.

If you look at last year, discounting Ahmed, the final three in the house were the oldest ones there. Nadia 27, Dan and Jason 30.

I think people who are more mature can be much funnier. Dan's "don't disturb a gangsta when he's having a crap" was a classic.

I was a fan of Dan because he was good on a one to one basis even though he was talking rubbish when he tried to pretend that he would walk if he thought he had a chance of winning.

That's not about being mature, that's about having wit and an IQ in at least the double digit range.

Average people like Dan just look intelligent and mature next to the likes of Emma.

You're right. Fed seemed quite interesting and could express himself.

I'm sure if BB looked for more intelligent HMs and thought of activities that involved interaction and conflict it could be interesting. Instead they take the easy way by choosing loud mouths in auditions who then act like mice in the house.

It was and still is my favourite

But each year has managed to get me hooked, laughing or shouting at the telly

BB4 was dull as an unpolished brass door knob but when Cameron ended up in Africa it gave it a new lease of life if only for a week or so

I've no favourite at the moment in BB6 apart from Vanessa and Sam but thats only because they're easy on the eye

So it's just a case of sit back and see how it pans out

But Derek is the dullest one in there, with Roberto a close 2nd.

Agree with that- the best HM's on Celeb BB3 were the older ones eg Jackie Stallone, John McCririck, Bez,Brigitte and Germaine.None of them would have seen 40 again but they were up for a laugh.

And Cameron was 30 when he won was he not? An Craig 27 odd? So we do tend to like the 'older' HM sometimes?

I was quite amazed at how many 19-24 year olds there were. 19 was considered yong in the Jade era..and there are 3 or 4 this year.

There was no one in the age gap in between the young ones and the 'oldies'...a 26/7/8 year old for example.

Not everyone who watches BB is under 21 producers!

Though I do agree that if they entertain it is fine..but I would have liked to see more of an age spread.

Each year we've had the dull, the level headed(ish) and the entertainers.
Dereks' just biding his time. But to be fair to him as far as the guys go he hasn't got much in the way of eye candy
