The swearing
weedledeedle

I am far from being a bit prudish
but can I just say the CONSTANT swearing is getting on my bluddy, frigging nerves!!!

Honest to God, they cannot string more than two words together, without having to intersperse it with effs and blinds

and I am getting v v bored with it.......I thought a few of them were "intelligent"? then, surely, they would have a modicum of literal and vocabulary skills that would ensure that they did not need to resort to F*****G SWEARING ALL THE F&@~NG TIME!!!

and the screaming is getting on my boobs too

This post made me laugh because it's a bit hypocritical. I understand where you're coming from though and yeah, I can see how it can be annoying. I haven't really noticed it, though.

Max is definitely the worst. Can't express himself without swearing, apparently.

I don't really have a problem with it myself, I just try to ignore it. But I can see how it must be irritating for some!

In the first few days there might be an element of showing off or establishing your character.............it'll probably lessen as they get to know each other.

If not, just throw the f*cker out.

True
What i found amusingly ironic was that Max was complaining because 'Cose' made him feel as though he was thick (what with her having English as ONLY her 10th language an all) - Max totally missing the point that his English is APPALLING and she does speak English better than he.

She looks thick, but by God, he sounds it.

I know what you mean. Max can't string a sentence together without the 'F' word. I think his swearing is worse than the rest of the hms. Saying that, I don't have anything against swearing, and actually understand it when it's for effect. But not when it's in your everyday conversation as in... Hey mum, I'm going to the fkn shop now and I'll buy the fkn potatoes.

I've personally never understood the need for such relentless swearing, but I can see that someone without the necessary language skills would resort to it. If he calmed down, maybe he wouldn't do it quite so much.

Kemal and Makosi were discussing this earlier, saying they think that swearing is extremely insulting. I'm looking forward to kemal getting into some bitch fights, which I'm sure will be rather witty and eloquent.

Rubish swearing can be very entertaining & a lack of language skills is irrelevant to swearing, saying that it's also part of youth culture, working class culture etc.

I agree the upper classes can give the working class a run for their their money, when it comes to swearing & I'm not convinced their is always time always a time & a place, with them. It's probably the middle classes, or those to be middle class that are most offended about swearing.

As Alison told us a couple of years ago, the sound dips become less frequent. Well, lets f***ing hope so, eh? I've not really noticed it being that bad, to be honest.

I noticed that most of them swore as they walked into the house on the first night....

Made me realise how inarticulate it makes people sound.. going to try to give up myself now

Some swearing might be entertaining to some people, but when such language is used with such repetition then it starts to detract from what the person is saying. Swearing is done by some members of all classes - I personally find overuse (ie every few words) of such language unnecessary. Though I wouldn't always tell someone else (except a relative or friend) how I felt about it, it would colour my opinion of them to a certain extent. All of this is said in the knowledge that there are certain medical conditions (such as Tourette Syndrome) where the sufferer can't control such swearing, and of course they are not to blame for what they say & how often they say it - they are a clear exception.

It may well be that Max is being true to himself and "real" by doing it, and that's fair enough I suppose. However, I think to use such language when talking to someone who's little more than a stranger is rather rude and presumptious. But that's just me.

As I whole I don't mind the swearing if it isn't used as often as it is being used here - every other word. It's starting to annoy me now, especially last night.

I actually disagree with this. I do swear, but not often.

I do think swearing, to a great extent does come down to ignorance ... kids think initially because they swear they come across as 'adult' .. then before they realise, every second word is a swear word.

As for swearing being entertaining - as an example, I find Billy Connolly more entertaining when he does NOT swear ..

the only problem i have with it, is that it really affects the live stream. way too many sound dips etc.
i seem to remember the bb producers telling the contestants or was it fame academy producers telling the pupils.....to lose the swearing in the day-time or at least to keep it to a bare minimum. if it carries on this way , they might have to resort to this, as it's the live streaming that keeps bb at the top of the tree.
