Home made vcd help, PLEASE
Hi evry1, well i have quite a few vcd from orgionals to cdr's and they all work fine on my Toshiba sd210e dvd player, but if i burn a vcd with my cdrw drive they are all pixellated and blocky and eventually after about 10 minutes of playback they sease to ork and just freeze. I use lots of programmes inc NERO and NTI cd maker 2000. I also sometimes go to the leingths of re-encoding the vid clip with TMPenc, but still the same results. that is why i bought the cdrw. Can someone please help me.
Thankyou DNZ711 |

What speed are you writing your discs at? Apparently high speeds often don't work as well as the laser spends less time heating each "bit" on the disc and so doesn't always complete the chemical reaction - though not sure if I entirely believe that...
Still, I have found that discs written at, say, 4 or 8 speed tend to work a bit better than those written at 20 speed. Try the lowest speed you can get and see if that improves matters at all. John |

I suggest a visit to the vcdhelp site may give you answers. I too make my own VCD's + SVCD's from a burner (NERO + TMPEG) and haven't had any major problems at high speed burning (8x). I have read that this could cause a problem but it could be drive specific. My CDR is an LG.

Thankyou for the replys, i think the answer lies in the speed, so i will bur them @ 4 or 8X and see if that helps.
