I watch it because i enjoy it.

It's like nothing else on TV, it's unique.

It's like a social experiment.. and you get to sit back safely from a distance and observe all. You even get to play God once a week and decide someones fate.

There is no script and anything can happen. Much more interesting than watching all the boring soaps that pretend to represent reality.

Watching the real thing is so much better!

If "people like us" are numbskulls for watching Big Brother, what about people who hate big brother but spend hours on Big Brother websites arguing and ranting about it?

That's a MUCH more valuable use of one's time I must say.

Interesting? Anything can happen? You think this represents reality?

Hahahahaha. Oh man, that made me laugh hard. Tell me, what's 'real' about a group of people acting up in front of a bunch of cameras?

And don't convince yourself it's interesting and anything can happen, anything that's interesting and 'will happen' will be quickly replaced with the garden

Apart from the countless other "reality shows".

I used to enjoy watching television but now I have to do this to pass the time as there's nothing but drivel to watch.

Anyway, unlike danmoz98 and noikz I have a life to lead, so I'm off to work.

Back later.

It's a complete joke. Why do they even bother? I can't understand why there's so much censorship, even as late as 3am.”

If you are watching it until 3am, then it cant be that bad.

Who are you trying to kid? Going out to work so you can pay for your Sky subscription so you can watch BB 24/7 over 3 channels does not equal 'a life to lead'.

Would you like me to text you updates? Or have you signed up for the official service?

BB6 may not be my loved BB5, but it is still good. BB5 & 6 are the only ones that have been watchable. BB1 was okay, sort of. lol

what is the point of demanding reasons off people and then immediatley shooting everything down? i don't think i could come up with specific reasons for liking any programme that would satisfy your criteria. you may have to just accept that people like the show (and a lot of people do like it). generalising comments about all the viewers is ridiculous and badly cheapens the argument.

i understand why people don't like it, i understand why people do like it. i don't understand why some haters are so against it. threads like this are just pointless... its just an effort to shout at people who like different things to you.

i don't watch much on tv but i enjoy big brother, not because i like the contestants, or think it's real, just because i find it can be entertaining. the same reason i watch arrested development, 24, six feet under or whatever.

these threads are getting really boring now, there should be a general forum consensus just to ignore them.

It makes a change fom talking about the weather, work, how much aloaf of bread costs. BB means that sad people like me, with very little life have something to look forward to.

I don't understand why the BB lovers can't debate at how dire this show has become without jumping into defensive mode. Then again, I'm assuming the 'haters' have more intelligence than the 'lovers' which would account for the lack of anything really contructive from the 'lovers' side of the fence.

No! You just ask for an alternative point of view just to shoot it down in flames!

Anyway, haven't you got anything better to be doing? You've been hanging around this thread for 2 hours now. I thought you didn't like people who followed Big Brother so closely.

We love to be cruel so what does it say about us.

Some of us watch because we cant sleep work different shifts ect

I myself think of myself as being very leval headed so i was not took in with last years bb5 i have since managed to get hold of hours of tape and it was a different story to what i was told on the Channel 4 hightlight show.

I have read Marcos Column with interest and i know he speaks the truth.

we are in this country like hounds waiting for the fox then we can rip it to peices lol

I realise that the arguments on this thread are mainly about the censorship on the "live" feed and how we are shortchanged by it (Yes, why can't we have some live coverage of the diary room? - obviously there are private chats in there but with delay of transmission surely they could screen a few gems at least).

However, re sex on BB - the media are obessesed by sex on reality shows, but that isn't what we watch them for. Is it? If we wanted to watch people in the nude and/or having sex on TV there are plenty of channels we could tune into. Surely the interest in these shows is the interaction between the characters. We like watching developing romances with clues in body language and flirting (Phil Tufnell and Linda Barker on IAC were very interesting) and the consequences of jealousy etc, but I wouldn't want to watch a genuinely passionate couple in action and if they've any sense they won't want to let us see them either.

I find it hard to understand how in the year 2005 some people's attitudes to sexual activity have not progressed beyond the naughty curiosity of 11 year old school boys.

By far the best reality show of this year or ever was The Apprentice, when nobody could care less if anybody had sex with anybody else but focused purely on the ability and personality of the contestants. In addition, this show was recorded in advance so that results were not adapted in response to audience opinion. A friend of mine kept saying they'd keep the ghastly Adele on because she was so annoying and good entertainment value, but that's not how it worked.

We all know how Endemol edit BB to make us form particular opinions about the housemates.

Sorry I'm wandering all over the place off-topic.

It's Sunday afternoon, what better than sitting around, lazying about and talking about the crap that is BB?

However, it's a nice day so I'm thinking of going down the beach. Of course, I'll be thinking of you all sat zombified in front of BB on this warm, sunny day.

Not particularly sunny here, although I spent yesterday afternoon in the garden not watching BB. Making the most of it, I guess.

I'm at work, so I can't actually go down to the beach or anything (any anyway, there's not many of them in London)

Hang on a minute.

It's been on for a day. None of us can justifiably condemn or glorify it yet, nothing's happened.

Appreciation of BB takes patience.

The sound dips have always been there. Yes it can be frustrating but we've had four years to get used to it.

Being a freeviewer, this is the 1st time I've had access to the live stream. I have to say, it's totally boring and a really bad excuse for TV! You can never follow a single conversation cos it keeps cutting out all the time, and all they do is sit round all day. I think it's ok if you just watch BBLB and the highlight shows, I have really enjoyed all the previous series by doing this.
