But there is one poster who will pop on and try and say that he is just a nice little lad and make every excuse on his behalf to cover up that Max is a bigoted homophobe.
We all saw him screw his face up in anger when he said it. He wasn't joking and it wasn't a term of endearment. It was just bloody offencive.

Either "poof" is acceptable or it isn't. How it's used then is up to whoever uses it.

I'm pretty sure a lot of people went "wtf" when Kemal walked in. I don't like Max, but I disagree with using that against him.
The thing is Maxwell doesn't think he is being offensive, 'it's justa laff innit', I am not saying it makes his actions forgivable, but I genuinely believe he's just being a chirpy cockney calling everyone poofs or whatever racial insult he comes up with.
If BB had tried to pick an HM from great swathes of the cities, though London is probably the worst, they would have ended up with someone similar to Maxwell.

So he's representative then of a part of the public at large. I haven't really paid too much attention to him or the show generally.
