Would you diet?

Im not taking the piss out of the people in the house, but if I was Max, Craig or Lesley I would have dieted for a couple of weeks before going in the house.

I dont care if people are fat or chubby or not, YOUR GOING ON TELEVISION.

Do people agree or am I being shallow?

I think it's a personal choice situation. If you are happy with the size you are and feel comfortable with yourself, why diet to fit a media induced "norm"?

Very shallow. Quite disgusting actually. Its attitudes like that that encourage bulemia and annorexia in 8 year olds.

Maybe they have been dieting like mad - you don't know what they looked like 2 months ago!

...it DOES NOT matter how fat someone is...for example some people thought jade goody was fat but her personality prevailed and she made it through to the final...lesley and maxwell are great entertainment and they are much better than paperthin bores like science and mary...

Personally i would stuff my face constantly in the run-up to the show, as to be as large as i could.

and take up as much of the screen as possible thus ensuring the most coverage ever on and inch-by-inch basis

Like I said, I dont care about what people look like, but Lesley moaned for 25 minutes on the first night for a dressing gown because she didnt feel comfortable sat there in a towel.

Its well known that TV doesn't help with this...

What I would say is that if your looks are very important to you then that might be a motivation to diet. Of the 3 mentioned only one appears to have that problem. One of the others - given his profession and apparent obsession - should perhaps have been concerned about his haircut than his weight.

No - I don't think anyone should have dieted particularly. Lesley may not be a stick insect but scanning these boards she still clearly has her admirers...

That would be your choice as you obviously don't feel comfortable with your body shape. You certainly shouldn't put your insecurities on other people.

I don't know whether you're being shallow or not, because it depends on why you raised the issue. As someone else has said, they may have been considerably heavier before they went in the house anyway.

What I do know is, you put yourself up for public scrutiny when you enter reality tv, especially something like BB. I don't think any of them will have missed the bad comments made about previous BB HMs - I seem to remember reading that for a previous BB they deliberately showed them some past press coverage to give them an idea of what they were letting themselves in for, & give them a chance to pull out: maybe they still do that. I therefore hope they're able to take the bad comments with the good, which they're bound to hear/read when they come out. It'll be pointless for them to complain about personal comments made about them unless they're defamatory.

It's precisely because I know I wouldn't be able to take all the possible comments about size/shape/colour/politics etc, plus the delving into your private life by the media & associated press stories thanks to so-called friends & family, that I'd never apply for BB no matter what prize was on offer.

First Post since BB5 - Fat isn't nice to look at (generally speaking) and equally, painfully thin is ugly too. If I were to go on BB I would definitely lose a few pounds to appeal to the masses (no denying that "most" people prefer a nice figure and not that of a beached whale).

BB is all about the media exploiting "normal" people and more so the opposite is true. Take a look at all the public figures that make a fortune out of thier looks - there ain't that many fatties in comparison to the regular shaped ones. Ok, you'll always have a few like Ms. Titmuss and umm........I can't think of anymore chubs who rely on thier looks alone.
