Maxwell; an undeserving favourite?
StevenX
29-05-2005
So, following tonight's show I noticed Maxwell was still a favourite to win.

Is it just me, or does anyone else see yet typical, uber-straight annoying "bit of a geezer," stereotype?
Now you may be saying we have a houseful of stereotypes, and you're probably right. I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who hate the deluge of "bisexual sex kittens", "fiery drama queens," and of course the classic camp gay guys we've been accustomed to over the years.

Am I alone in finding the ultra-straight alpha male stereotype person the most offending and annoying of all?
Their reluctance to accept alternative ways of life (especially when in groups), coupled with their "geezer," beer-frinking pretense has to be the most clichéd and irritating of all human characteristics.
Here's hoping that his odds slide incredibly over the next weeks, and a more deserving favourite comes to the fore.

If I were in the house, I would have had a good few arguments with him (and Science) already.. I would be demented. Big Brother has done an amazing job of creating an atmosphere of claustrophobia and hate already I feel. This is the first year where I actually feel I would genuinely hate it in there. And it's only day three. We're in for a great series...

So, there's my rant over. Any thoughts?

He's only the favourite with one bookie now - Kemal's odds are dropping by the minute

Best betting

The bloke is an a-hole and need to go soon.

I don't understand how these betting number systems work, lol but thanks anyways

Despite his over the top, attention seeking entrance, he does seem to be a level-headed intelligent person. He has Science sussed out (I don't like him either - with his "ghetto," drivel), and I think he doesn't like a few others in there but isn't really doing much about it (Max especially).
Even Lesley has the guys figured out...
I really don't like most of those guys. Their ultra-"masculine," stallion personas are quickly becoming irritating.
Ironic that the people they would consider least "men," in the house, are actually the biggest men in there...?

Shades of series 2.

I seem to recall the bookies fave was Bubble right up until he was up for eviction...and the similarities between he and Maxwell don't end there

I don't like him. I like him more than Sam & Science though.

He is the best housemate in there, so far, in my opinion. I like laddish lads and he's funny.

Bubble had a little bit of charm, this bloke is just a lairy boy, he gives beer drinking geezers a bad name, they are not all that mouthy and full of themselves.

It's not even their mouthiness that gets to me.
I know a lot of guys like this, and (in general) they're very unnaccepting of anyone unlike themselves, and they have no interest in anyone unlike themselves. If you try and argue a point with them, you'll never win. They'll be rude and totally dismissive of your opinion. Yet when it comes to their point, they'll be completely unrepentant, and continue to put you down in nasty, thoughless ways.

Like I said, if I were in there with him and Science, I'd have cracked by now.

I don't like him, but he has been the only one to make me laugh so far.

I think there is a big difference between Bubble and Maxwell. Maxwell is unpleasant, whereas Bubble wasn't. Maxwell has already made unnecessary personal comments towards some of the HM's. I hope he doesn't win.
