Can someone explain to me what the ODDS mean?

So for example - at the top there, theres Makosi - 10/1

So every £1 you bet, you win £10 back? So the favourites are the ones with the smallest odds? like 2/1?

yerh thats right. look at 1./1 as being the best( although you can go lower like 1./ 2 for example but thats kind of like going into minus's) its went it starts saying 11./2 and things like that i get confused.

The bookies tend to be pretty inaccurate at first. I remember Shell, Stuart and Dan being the bookies favourites for the first 4 weeks or so for no particular reason before Nadia began her reign. I think the winner will either be Mary, Makozi, Kemal or Roberto.

usually a clear fav asserts themself by the end of the first week and usually stays near the top for most of the show, although the dont always win they usually make the final. the winner dosent normally come towards the top of the bookies odds untill fairly near the end.

Yep! And with Nadia last year who was a clear outsider until a few weeks into the show (apologies if im very wrong with this theory... but im almost sure )

Do the odds change every day then?

Depending on what happens within the house I would imagine and the demand on bets being made on certain HMs (the more bets made on people mean the more popular the person is becoming, as the people betting are more than likely to vote for them to win, to allow them to get money )

Ah-ha! Good one! Yeah - I think that was what happened with Nadia last year. I mean, I found out that people made early bets on Nadia when the show first started, and she was a big outsider wasn't she.

So - if I was to make a bet on Makosi - 10/1 now, and all of a sudden, it changed to 1/1 - and she won... would I get the £10 for every bet made, or the changed odds up until the end?

I love how it works! :P

You would get the offer made to you when you made your bet.

So if you made a bet of a quid just now and makosi won, you'd get ten quid, not the odds at the end of the show

Hee hee. On Betfair, where you can act as bookie OR punter, they change by the minute. I'm making a packet at the moment by betting on unpopular housemates at silly odds.

For example - I put £50 on Craig at 28/1 on Saturday, thereby standing to make £1400 if he wins. Then, today, I laid it off (acted as bookie) and took £50 of someone's money at 20/1.

So, I have covered my original bet and cannot lose money, yet if Craig wins I make £400 (less 6% commission). Lovely. I'm trying to do this with as many housemates as poss

Your very welcome! Hope my advice comes in handy, even though I'm only 18 and never bet in my life (not even played the lottery!)

yes but this isn't any clear sign as to who will go, because don't forget, everyone won't be up for eviction and more theories which i would go into if i wasnt so tired
