Channel4 have released overnight data which indicates that last night's highlights show, which aired at 10.30pm after E.R., achieved a 3.8 million strong audience.

Big Brother's Little Brother managed a respectable 1.21 million in it's new weekday evening slot before The Simpsons. And over on multichannel, it's replay at 11.25pm on E4, straight after the C4 show, reached an impressive 468,000.

That's good for a 10:30 slot!

3.8 million for 10.30 - 11.30 is very respectable.

What did the first monday get last year?

Mon May 31: 3.3 million (14.6%)

So it did better than last year! And I think it was in a later slot!

Yeah, it would've been in its usual half-an-hour slot at 10pm. So, for it to be on later and longer, and get a better audience, that's great. But it needs to rise to 4m now to beat last year...

What about CLI?

Here's how it's comparing with BB5:

Friday = Lower
Saturday = (ever so slightly) Lower
Sunday = Higher
Monday = Higher

So a mixed bag so far. Needs to get 4.3 million tonight to beat BB5's figure.

So Tuesday's figures last year were pretty strong then... I guess that';s where the whole Kitten thing was all taking hold... Will be interesting to see how it does tonight. The show is GREAT so far.

This is all much better than Kitten being a loon and climbing on roofs! C'mon, we can get 4.4m tonight.

Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday is usually when people are doing other stuff, so it will be interesting to see what the figures are for tonights show.

Agreed. In the next couple of days we need the figures to stabilise at at least 4 million. Won't be a disaster if they don't, but it won't be very good either.

I'm seeing in the region of 4.1-4.4 million tonight?

Yeh, I hope tuesdays ratings hold up. Am I right in saying this is the first time it will go up against CLI since Friday? Trounced it then: http://media.guardian.co.uk/overnigh...496013,00.html hope it keeps it up.

I just doubled checked and it was 3.38 million, not 3.8 million. So, still better, but not by as large a figure.

I read somewhere that they weren't too worried that the ratings were lower on the opening night on C4,as last year it opened straight after the last ever episode of 'Friends' so BB5 had a few extra people still watching from that.

I remember that day. *sigh*

Weekend and Bank Holiday ratings are always unspectacular for BB (and indeed other 'rolling' shows). 3.4 million at 10.30 on a Bank Holiday is OK. The launch show dropped about a million viewers average (200 000 peak) but it wasn't following the Friends finale this year and it did go head-to-head with CLI (which probably cost it 100 000 or 200 000).

Early days - but C4 will be happy with this. I fully expect the Tuesday-Friday average to be over 4 million.

Although last year it was up against a special episode of Coronation Street, which had 11 million viewers.

Be advised it was on an hour earlier, and they're still crap ratings for ITV

This is not so good. CLI are making a big thing of tonights show and it is going head to head with Big Brother.

...and it had Coronation Street for lead in - with an unusually long ad at 9pm...

Meh.

When they go head to head, THAT's when it counts.
