Like tonight!

There's also the possibility that BB viewers saw CLI and then switched over to watch BB, because they could afford that luxury when they didn't clash. But when the DID clash, they may want to stick with BB.

CLI looks to have retained its 4 million weekday audience - not good enough to be a success and not bad enough to be axed...

Well as long as BB can stabalise to around 4 million towards the end of this week and get up into 5 million in the next couple of weeks everything will be running smoothly.

It only really gets 4 million on mondays, the rets of the week it stays at 2-3 million. It just doesnt justify 15 million quid for me. ITV are making good profits though, mainly due to ITV2 and ITV3.

Don't worry about it being up against CLI. I very much doubt many will even bother to set their videos or sky+, let alone bother to watch it

It did fine in the 10pm slot last week getting over 4 million viewers.

As long as BB gets 3.5m - 4.5m it will be a sucess, plus I bet at least 300 000 viewers are just watching CLI because they hate BB

Over the last week or so CLI has had 4-4.3 million for its weekday shows over 5 of the 6 days.

However, you are correct that it doesn't justify the budget (I'd heard £12 million but that doesn't really matter).

Quite right - here's the cut out and keep guide to the ratings for BB (C4 show at 10 PM on weekdays)

Below 3 million - Enjoy the series because its the last.
3 - 3.5 million - C4 worried, BB bubble has burst
3.5 - 4 million - Dodgy - questions about shows's future.
4 - 4.5 million - Acceptable for C4 and advertisers.
4.5 - 5 million - Good ratings. Up to the expectations of C4 and advertisers. Everybody happy
5 - 5.5 million - Very good ratings. Up to the hopes of C4 and advertisers
5.5 - 6 million - Excellent ratings. Champagne corks popping.
6 - 6.5 million - Normally it needs a special event or eviction to get up here.

For reference the Mon-Thurs weekday shows in BB5 went like this

Under 3m = 1
3-3.5 m = 1
3.5-4m = 1
4-4.5m = 5
4.5-5m = 11
5-5.5m = 7
5.5-6m = 3
6-6.5m = 7

The 2 below 4 million were up against a) Bank Hols and b) England v Portugal. BB5 performed VERY strongly - if BB6 can come close to matching it then I'll be suprised (but also delighted).

No problem. I kept them from last year. I was going to delete them but thought it would be useful to compare them with BB6.

If BB6 matches or comes close to the BB5 ratings, then I think the producers are going to have to pull something big out of the bag for BB7. I mean, six years isa hell of a longtime for a show to still be as popular as when it started. If there is the slightest sign of a decline in viewers, or a sign of the show becoming un-popular, then the newspapers will tear it apart completely and there'll be no way for it to redeem itself.

But that's exactly what happened with BB4, and the show came back.

It's a good point, though. BB6 looks like it's trying to be another BB5; if that doesn't work, what else can they try? BB4 already discredited "back to basics".

You could say its MORE popular than when it started - whatever happens from now on BB has been a phenomenal success. It hasn't yet lost its ability to amuse and/or offend. If BB6 matches BB5 then BB7 will follow the same format. The real problem is that the HMs are starting to model themselves on ex-HMs and that doesn't bode well for the future...

Or the producers have picked them to be more of the same (only worse): Lesley as a nightmare Michelle, Craig as the worst parts of Marco (with Kemal getting the good parts), Mary another attempt at a Kitten, and so on.

I did not know anyone was bothering to watch a bunch of serial random sex addicts do it on TV.. it is what they always do.. who the hell wants to watch that drivel with "celebs"( dug out of some sewer ) no one has heard of except in terms of sex scandals.....

Crazy that soaps pull in 13 million viewers and BB gets excited over 3.4 million....

I think that next year, they have to be careful when picking the housemates. Since Brian in BB2, they seem to think that the public wanta really camp gay man to win. Not many people liked Marco, but they still went and picked Kemal. Next year, they need some real bitches.
