Hi all,

Obviously with Bob telling us that Live8 will go ahead, who would you like to see play? Who should be in and who should be left out...

I DO NOT want to see the Spice Girls. It would be a typical limelight stealing attempt by them to reunite for the show.

Id like to see:

Oasis
U2
Robert Plant & Jimmy Page
Rolling Stones
Radiohead
Paul Weller
Franz Ferdinand
Feeder
Ash
The Chili Peppers
Goldie Looking Chain (just to get the BBC in a frenzy with the swear box)
and it all kicking off with Status Quo.

Rock on.

Scissor Sisters have gotta be there. They're one of the best live acts out there.
Beverly Knight because she is very underated.
and perhaps Jamelia because she seems to perform anywhere a stage appears.

Ok, so we know who we'd like to see play (add Muse & Will Young to the list) but who do we think will play? Probably the usual bunch of reality TV 'stars', flavours of the month and those acts that seem to be at every small outdoor event you read about (usually the local radio sponsored ones):
Javine
Lemar
Fightstar
McFly
Rachel Stevens
Natasha Bedingfield
The Darkness
Keane
Kelly Osbourne
Joss Stone
an so on.

Incidentally, I'm not necessarily saying all or any of the above are crap, just that they're possibly not who people want to see given the choice, but will probably be signed up anyway. Hopefully I'll be wrong on most of them.

Edit - Muse, yes ! Joss Stone? Not so much for me.

Will it only be artists with some appeal outside of the UK ? If so then Javine,
Lemar, Fightstar,McFly and Rachel Stevens shouldnt be there.

Bob Geldoff said the Spice Girls are welcome to perform, he said they are still sorting stuff out at the moment.

:: Hyde Park tickets - on Monday at 8am a question will be read out on radio stations and news programmes and a phone number will be read out, text your answer to this.

Phonelines will be open for seven days, text as many times as you want and each one costs £1.50. At the end of the seven days the line will close and a computer will select winners at random. Each winner gets two tickets.

Its a lottery im afraid, not about raising money this time, more about the political angle. So the more times you enter the more chance... I just hope they dont end up on ebay for ££££££. I hope people see the reason why Bob is doing this.

I agree, but I think we can pretty much guarantee some of them will end on ebay. I don't think the organisers will want to spend the amount of money that someone like Michael Eavis does to try to prevent ticket 'fraud'. I guess what the lucky winners do is up to them (although anyone who pays for these tickets knowing full well the seller got them for free deserves to be ripped off IMO). Live8 can only control their own costs.

They should limit it to one text per person to make it fair.

I think chances of getting tickets is going to be slim.

Actually I think it would be OK to see some on eBay - it would be sad if the only way to get a ticket is by LUCK. But if someone wins an auction they should give the equivalent amount to charity as well as to the seller.

I can see what your saying but when they end up on ebay only those who can afford to fork out hundreds will actually get tickets - not really fair is it.

And you can bet none of it will ever go to charity.

I do agree with Noentry2k, its ok if i can spend the whole morning on the phone at £1.50 a time. However like the "party at the palace" for the queens jubilee that was a "lottery".

This isnt for charity as such its for political awareness, of what our government along with the other super powers are doing to places like Africa. There is however something of an air of contradiction about these things, cause im sure the massive corperations of Coke and Cadburys, im sure that it will be difficult to find any fair trade products for sale at these events and for Live Aid fighting against Famine and the third world etc and you get Phil Collins flying on the chugging polution plane Concorde at the cost of thousands... Beside all of that, it does get the general public interested in whats happening in the world, and have a good time aswell.

I think that u2 deserve to rock the show, as Bono does have alot to do with world politics. So well done Bob, lets hope you can pull it off again.

Status Quo have to open the show again surely!!!!

Personally i would have prefered to have paid £35 for a ticket and that be that - like Party in the Park. Now i doubt i will get tickets because i don't have hundreds to spend on eBay!

Oh well, you never know i might get lucky!
