A bit off topic I suppose, but didn't know where else to fit this!
I signed up to OneTel on the doorstep sometime ago, and moved my service from Homecall. I have the paper work i signed, DD form and such, but have no reference numbers from them. I have recieved no paper work, and had a telephone call from a lady of Asian persuasion not long after to confirm that I wanted to move providers etc. I was offered billing via e-mail, which i thought would be useful, so i accepted and took almost 20 minutes to get her to understand my relatively simple e-mail address. I have never received anything from the company via e-mail or post, but they are dutifully taking varying amounts from my account each month. I have tried to complain online about this, but simply got a reply back saying they could not deal with me unless i had a reference number or something to prove my identity!! My question is this - should I cancel my DD, to try to force them to contact me, or sign up with another provider in order to get rid of them? If anyone has other suggestions, then I am all ears, as I am less than impressed with being treated so shoddily!

Be aware that if you cancel your DD and you owe them money (e.g. by continuing to make phone calls) they will slap an Admin Fee of £1.00 on you.
If you fail to pay them the money when due, they'll slap a £5.00 Late Fee on you. One.Tel do use an Indian Call centre for their customer service now and they are not very good (imo). You can write to One.Tel at: 3rd Floor, Building 1 Chiswick Park Chiswick High Road London W4 5BY Or as I did, to their registered office: Centrica Telecomminications Limited t/a One.Tel Millstream Maidenhead Road Windsor Berkshire SL4 5GD I would suggest you enclose a copy (not the original) of any paperwork you had when you signed up - it's amazing what they discover they agreed to when you confront them with the evidence.

Are you sure One.Tel use an Indian CC? Becuase there's one just down the road from me....

They closed down their Chiswick call centre (with redundancies) last year & just this Friday announced the closer of their Enfield site which includes a call centre & over SIXTY redundancies. Sour grapes you bet, I'm one of those made redundant. Watch out Stornoway you may be next. |
