It says Free for the Fresh sim card plus £10 credit but when you pick it and go to checkout they want to charge you £10

Utter crap.

No - to the right it says £10. The card is free and the airtime costs £10. Not a problem as far as I can see

No, I have to admit when I first read it, it appeared to be a free simcard with £10 free credit, they could definitely have worded it better.

but it says in black and white

Sim......................................Credit......Price
FREE sim plus £10 airtime....N/A.........From £10.00

It says the price right next to the "select" button.

I think its the + that is misleading, that should read FREE sim (& if it included £10 of credit) including £10 of airtime, and it wouldnt have thrown you. £10 is the charge for the credit so the sim is free.?

But it didn't throw me - It makes perfect sense how it is written. If it was written

FREE sim plus £10 airtime - £10
or
FREE sim and £10 airtime - £10
or
FREE sim with $10 airtime - £10
or
FREE sim including £10 airtime - £10

its all the same to me. The sim is free and the air time costs £10 - simple.

It says free sim plus £10 credit infering that the £10 credit is also free.

So it is very misleading,a lawyer would have a feel day with this if it was worth while to bring the case to court.

If it was free you would not pay for it.

I rest my case

Your not paying for it - you are paying for the air time.

Its like buy one get one free- you don't expect to walk away with the free one on its own do you

You seem to be doing a very good impression of an idiot. One day if you practice, you may become a fully fledged one.

It all seems pretty self explanatory to me, you pay the £10 for the airtime, effectively making the SIM card free.

It is deliberately worded slightly misleading. What they apparently should say is Free SIM card when you buy £10 credit. No?

Heres when it can be misleading :

FREE sim plus £10 airtime

If you make the 'plus' into a + it makes this

FREE sim + £10 airtime

Then + ussually stands for and so then it this :

FREE sim and £10 airtime

which some people think it mean

FREE sim and FREE £10 airtime

as it says Free 1 + 2, get it?

So it is not free if you have to buy somthing.

The airtime will not cost the company anything.
So you are basically paying £10 for the sim.

This thread will be closed by an upper God if the personal insults continue.

RE: Paying £10 for the airtime

You pay Fresh £10, which they then put on a SIM card and send out to you. The SIM card is then credited with £10 which YOU can use right until the last penny, therefore meaning YOU have gotten the most out of the £10 you have spent, meaning your SIM card was free.

Like somebody has already said, it's a good marketing tool that the CPW/Fresh have used on the mentioned website - it's been used by many companies before and certainly isn't misleading.

No, its not misleading (for your silly little vote)

Without sounding cruel or patronizing:

I think its down to the reader's intelligence when seeing and interpreting pricing strategies like this - we should all just agree to disagree.

No - you are paying £10 for the air time and the sim if free.

You dont get anything for nothing in this world - you may realise that once you have left school, grown up and left home. Maybe got a job, a house, a wife/husband and have kids.

Maybe you will realise that an advert that says

Free sim plus £10 airtime from £10 means something costs at least £10

You will then realise that expecting a sim card to come with £10 credit and you not paying a penny is not going to happen. You will also realize that if something says FREE, it is not talking about competely free of cost but means free as part of a package.

ie Free x when you purchase Y

Come back when you have some grasp of commerce and then we can discuss what is and isn't a valid advert

Although I agree with you, Munta, that was a very patronizing post and it wasn't necessary.

It may be patronising but it appears to be the OPs prefered language

Ok - perhaps I should never have gotten involved in a thread where the OP asks for peoples opinions and then gets irate because someone disagrees with their views. But hay ho - this is DS after all.

PS. I also agree with your post but just wanted to set the record straight.
