Maybe you will realise that an advert that says

Free sim plus £10 airtime from £10 means something costs at least £10

You will then realise that expecting a sim card to come with £10 credit and you not paying a penny is not going to happen. You will also realize that if something says FREE, it is not talking about competely free of cost but means free as part of a package.

ie Free x when you purchase Y

Come back when you have some grasp of commerce and then we can discuss what is and isn't a valid advert”

This is not insulting?

Ps i am not gay like you.

pps as i stated many many times before do not dish it out if you can not take it.

OK calling somebody gay as in intended insult is not funny and you are making this thread turn sour.

Alert button has been pressed

It was not intended to be funny,it was a reply to what he stated about me.

He infered that i was gay,all you have to do is look at my name to find out i am a guy,if you can not work that out i suggest you refrain from making silly comments.

To get the thread back on topic:

I've just been into town and Fresh SIM offer advertised here is on the window display - it says "FREE Fresh SIM when you buy £10 credit" perhaps this is a better way for some people to understand.

I'm sure if you email or telephone the carphonewarehouse they'll take your comments into consideration.

(There's no need to get personal Jim, just because people don't agree with you)

If i replied to a post then the comment is for them not for anyone else and if anyone else takes offence and reply with silly comments then i am of course going to address them.

This is a forum, a forum being where everybody can join in - and I take offence at what you have called Munta (a "gay") because I do not see how this can be used in such context.

Mods, can this thread be closed please?

I've read back, Jim, and you started the personal insults with the above thread.

I'm going to say nothing more on this now, just that my interpretation of the SIM offer on the CPW website is that you are getting a FREE sim providing you buy £10 airtime, effectively making the sim FREE.

It's not really. At first glance it IS misleading, and it is deliberately designed to be so. Nothing to do with intelligence, because it is not actually clear what it means, it could mean either.

I think that's the point the OP was trying to make, it is misleading. It isnt an all-out lie but it's designed to fool you at first glance.

Not every one is as intelligent as us , so we should help them by pointing out misleading information like the posted link.

I will ask one question - how could somebody click the link to select the product without noticing the "from £10"? And then not noticing the "£10" on the select screen and then"£10" on the checkout screen.

They would have to lack a lot of inteligence if they actualy bought the product thinking it was free.

Interestingly, three of the people who think this isn't misleading are your self, lee18xx and me and we all from the east midlands. And a number who think it is misleading are from scotland.

I'm not exactly what relivance this is but as a Scottish blood southerner who has settled in the East midlands where do I fit

But would anyone buy this by mistake? I would think not. As such, the advert can not be construde as misleading as far as trading standards legislation is concerned.
