Transferring data from 6230 to 6230i

Hi there,

I am trying to transfer my files, contacts, messages & settings from my old 6230 to a new 6230i

Easy I thought - the Nokia software saves all the settings off the old phone no probs. However when I try to transfer this to the new phone the Nokia software tells me that as the phone is different it can only copy the files.

I want the others as well - does anyone know a way around this?

I think that for the contacts there's an option to copy them all to sim from phone. Then on the new phone you can copy them all off the sim to phone. It worked on my 6230 and I think most nokias have that function. You can do the files via bluetooth/infrared and the settings manually but I don't know about the messages.

Are you keeping the same sim on your new phone?

Thanks for your reply, yes I am keeping the same sim. I can transfer the Inbox messages on the sim, but I guess I will have to lose the 'sent messages'.

I also couldn't get the new 6230i to sync with the PC, Outlook etc. Have you tried this?

I personally never bothered with synching it up to the pc. I used a cardreader to transfer files between the two but didn't have a dku-2 wire or bluetooth on my pc to do it properly.

The nokia pc suite looked quite easy to use though, the nokia website is quite good on the software.

Good luck with it

Thanls for your help
