I mean arguments can be very entertaining, no doubt, but I like a balance, a bit of argument, a bit of pissed antics and fun. But it's all getting a bit heavy going at present. Some of them, like Craig, don't seem capable having any fun, seems to equal "playing up the cameras" to them, and much prefer having a good bitching session to get their kicks, instead. They ever gonna lighten up?

I'm with you on this one, I'm actually finding it quite hard to watch for all the shouting and arguing, I know it's always noisy in the first few weeks till we lose a few housemates, but this year, it's getting a bit ridiculous. I actually find myself turning off, and I'm watching less and less. I hoe they lighten up soon.

Like Science said, they need a few tasks to get them working as a team again.

good point, I'd wondering what was missing. But they can't really put in any booze for em, I can even see an "its a knockout" task degenerating into snideness

coming up on the live feeds: sleep-arguing

When mary is booted out on friday all of the personalities in the house will start to shine...mary is emotionally draining...she sucks the energy out of them...she is a psychic vampire that is holding the house to ransom...

i don't think they argue 24/7

i think it's more likely the arguments are what's shown on the highlights

yeah, i gotta post on this one......i remember a few yrs back when the housemates were attempting world records...just doin stupid stuff ( if you can remember details...pls post, because my brain has gone numb since then ) they were actually having fun... with people they didnt know!!!... but in the last 2 yrs, we seem to have tosspots who want to fight and argue on the first day...problem is..they all know the score now, theyv watched the programme for 5 years, and seen retards like victor going to "minor" movie premieres, and getting thier photo in "hello"...and all they want to do is emulate him...

the BB format is almost dead now... they have scraped the bottom of the barrel two years in a row looking for housemates....unless they can find 12 of marys "alien abductors" for next year....they gonna be stuck...

The theme isn't fun. The people are fighting because they were picked as the sort of people who would fight. Half of them think like Victor that arguing an plotting is what the people want - despite all the evidence of Bb1-3 and 5.

The only way to stop the arguing is to remove the people most desperate and most unsuited for the roles they are trying to get . Removing 4 would do. As they are also the most inarticulate, the remaining arguments would be better then too. Unfortunately the interest of the arguing Hm is to remove the quieter likeable and most unusual people leaving them them to emerge as the more likeable remaining HM by beating the unlikeable HM. Thats why Makosi nominated mary and Craig and not Anthony and Maxwell, She shines against Anthony and Maxwell - Mary is competition.

It was about 3 hours constant last night, at sometimes there was about 3 going on at the same time, it must have been giving them a headache trying to decide which argument to show.

Just too many who love to argue, Kemal and Science go off about next to nothing. Craig and Lesley bitch about everyone in front of Mary, so Mary goes around accusing everyone of being fake. If was in the house, I'd lock myself in the loft for two days, they'd send me round the twist.

Nice theory, but I don't feel that really explains why she nominated Craig, because he isn't exactly likeable, at least he wouldn't be if he wasn't getting favourably edited to remove his major bitching, and Makosi doesnt know thats not being shown in the highlights show. Ant and Max probably have their fans too, Ant, because hes good looking, so he gets the teen girly vote, Max because he's mr "regular bloke", although I'd have to admit, I don't know how many "regular blokes" bother to vote on BB, so his position is probably weaker than Ants.

I wouldn't mind but most of the arguments are being manufactured by certain HMs to gain camera time or to show up an opponent by making them lose their rag over nothing.

I'm just hoping the HMs get bored of it before the viewers do...

I love a barney in BB, but I'm getting bored of all the arguements in this one already.
Reckon the only sensible thing to come out of Saskia's (or was it Lesley's?) mouth was when she said she thought it was going to be fun and was sick of all the arguing - and that was on Sunday!!

NO......... pure and simple, they are far too aware of what is going on, and as for a task to get their spririts up well sorreeee, if they fail that is another weeks worth of arguing on who's fault it was, followed by bitching to whoever each HM blames for the first task being warned about failing the second task etc etc etc.

The problem with this lot is not only are they determined to get across to the rest of the house their opinions, sleights or whatver they are making damn sure the public get their message as loudly and often as they see fit. If it don't change soon it could be a disaster.

Last night in the pool was the first time I'd seen them really chill out and seem to get along fine, I think given a week or two and a few less housemates they will settle. I haven't given up hope on this year's BB just yet.

BB production can only pander to the market.

BB1/BB2 was perfect in it's innocence.
BB3 saw a shift with media savvy housemates.

I believe BB4 was an attempt to return to the innocent times but it bombed badly ( in comparison. )

So we have what we have.

The bottom line is viewing figures.
A few hundred thousand 'hardcore' fans watching or a few million GBP - advertisers prefer the latter.

The producers have my sympathy .....

Good analysis - you are spot on about BB4 - a show I welcomed at first but quickly got bored with. I wanted to see a return to the good old days of BB1 and BB2 but sadly BB, like everything else in life, is subject to the 'you can never go back' rule and, perhaps more than any other format, is subject to the law of diminishing returns - with each new show the contestants become more media savvy and the public more jaded, looking for new sensations. With BB3 -in particular by focusing on Jade's drunken antics - the show, IMO, went into freefall - where can you go but downhill from the 'kebab' moment? The more out of control and downmarket the contestants get, the less impression they make. An example - the row between Ama and Stuart on BB2 was compelling viewing - rather like two normally well-behaved work colleagues having a row in the office - whereas the fighting on shows like BB5 and BB6 is no more fascinating than a bunch of drunks fighting outside your window. And frankly if I want to see that sort of thing I can just go to my window and look out - I don't need to watch it on the telly as well ...

It was Saskia...

The key point is that there has to be a balance. You have to have a bit of tension but you also have to have a bit of fun. We are lacking humour in a big way - only the two old men are pulling their weight in that department.

BB5 and BB3 had plenty of fireworks but plenty of fun too. BB4 was too lacking in fireworks. BB6 is too lacking in fun.
