Has the Big Brother format gone stale?

With a new producer every series it seems just what new ideas are being introduced?
We have had a relatively non productive first week, let's hope these £ndemol production staff start earning their corn with some creative input.

I think the HMs need to be given more to do. Maybe introduce team games for them to play, in addition to the weekly task. Otherwise they just sit around 'singing' and talking old arse and getting bored.

The Big Brother Production Team haven't had to do anything because Makosi & Co. have wripped the house apart themselves. I think it's been probably the best first weeks in Big Brother History.

Yeah but where's the new producers ideas, it seems to be the same old same old.

The best producer BB had (BB3) was Helen Hawken!

How can you possibly say that the BB format has gone stale? The show is on for 11 weeks, and we're still on week 1! I would say the format is anything but stale. The ratings this year are very good (considering all the competition BB has this year), and are on par with last year. The newspapers also seem to be loving BB. Also, there's no doubt about it that this week has been the most eventful ever in BB history.

I wonder how many messages have been posted on this forum in the first week?

No, it's eviction night #1 and I'm all excited. Hopefully another "unlucky" plot twist to come plus the 1st proper weekly task.

The events have all been rows. The rows are all about the same things. Another week of this - let alone 10 - will be deadly dull. The house has two halves - the thick wannabees and the wierd or unpleasant smarter HM. Neither look like providing good winners. Vanessa floats outside the show and the oddest character seems to be losing the poll tonight. Its designed for tabloid coverage and Jerry springer fans but if Mary goes there is no wierd winner and the betting favourite Kemal or the "first black plotter winner" , Makosi ,wins. They may have a better winner than Nadia 2 or Makosi in mind but they will have to up their act a hell of a lot to get them there.

How can a few hissy fits be eventful, C'mon get real!
As networkbabe has sussed.
If this is your idea of the best BB yet then the format has died.

They can't have twists every single day of the week. They need to time them to perfection.

Not stale. It's rotted instead.

I'm prepared to give it time but the production staff seem to be too chilled.

BB6 rocks for a first week! I just want all the weeks to be the same as this one, with the same characters!

Who somehow aren't wannabees?

Also, the so-called smarter ones are mostly just less honest. Because they're duplicitous themselves, they expect it in others and so don't take what they do at face value.

That sounds right, though I'm surprised you didn't out in another plug for Vanessa. (Or is that what your final sentence was about?)

I'm seeing quite a few threads like this. Is the Big Brother dream over? It's strange because it's been the most eventful first week ever, yet a lot of people are cheesed off. I wonder if they feel that all the events make it look staged? It can't really be this edgy in there, can it?

Me, I'm actually enjoying it, though I'm not spending that much time with it, as you might have gathered. I'm enjoying the continuation of "wit of Big Brother", someting I highlighted last year as a fun component. Let's crank up the un-luckys and altered bottles of pop.

The dream is now a nightmare.

Hence, Leslah = the Nightmare Michelle, etc.

Imagine that. They're in real trouble revenue-wise if they have contrived to pick 13 unlikeable people. No-one picks up the phone all series. It could provide an excuse to rest it for a year. In the meantime, 10-week Shattered all summer.

They don't need twists. They need a fundamental strategy to keep the HMs busy and interacting. Sunbathing, gossiping and arguing isn't entertainment for a whole summer.

The format has gone stale - the concept hasn't. Big Brother as a format was to be a social experiment, which it no longer is. It's a gameshow, to make celebrities. The concept of locking 10/12/13 people in a house still interests a lot of people.

Compared with the HMs in the first series, this present crop are like beasts.
