What a creep this man is, a big girl's blouse spreading gossip about Sam to anyone who'll listen. He's just as idiotic as Mary the way he professes to read people's minds, saying that Sam gave Makosi a look on Tuesday that said, 'I'm dying to get in there to nominate you'.

Why is he being allowed to discuss nominations with everyone? He's been at it all day. Isn't this against the rules anymore?

He's also disappointed with all the 'ordinary' people in there. Why is he there? Get him out ASAP.

Derek is a politician. He is the man who writes the words that the politicians speak. He knows how to manipulate and make people think what he wants them to think.

This is why he is a really good HM.

I don't like his politics but I do appreciate his intellect and his sense of fun. I'd like to see him stay and I do think he's a potential winner.

Regardless of whether you like him or not, why is he being allowed to discuss nominations?

They have all been doing it a bit recently. I wonder if BB might have relaxed the rules a bit this year. Either that or they will get them all later.

I think anyone who remembers Thatcher, for whom Derek was a speech writer, will have strong feelings about him. I hated Thatcher and I have a deep distrust of anyone closely associated with her.

I suspect those who dislike Derek the most will be 40+

The younger FMs will be, for the most part, too young to recall the appalling damage and rampant hatred of those years.

I think the vast majority of sensible people will be judging him by what he does in the house.

Cheers
You're clever for a chav! It must be your royal blood!

and thanks to Friendly Face too.

Derek seems to have sussed Makosi's task, from what he's whispering to her now. he heard her scream in the DR just before the nom. results were announced & seems to have put 2 & 2 together!
I think he gets away with discussing noms. because BB could have primed him to do so. They knew of his political expertise & let's face it, who doesn't like listening to a bit of intrigue & watching manipulation.

I'm 40+ & I love Derek - but then I had considerable admiration for Thatcher, even if I didn't agree with all that she said & did.

He's not discussing noms but just recalling conversations he's had with hm's and being honest and saying who he doesn't like. Nothing wrong with that.

Has nobody got a good word for old Mrs T.? Never mind about Derek but she did the country some good if you can remember the Falklands and her guts in the face of the biggest crisis since WWII. Also what are Jack Straw and TB fighting for today, yes, UK's rebate from the EU, which MT successfully negotiated and which this country has been benefitting from ever since. The govt are desperate to keep it but they don't mention the instigator. She may have had her faults but we would do well to remember her successes too.

I lived in extreme poverty during and after the Thatcher years, thanks to her "successes"...I never ever want to go back there again

Anyway, back to the topic - I don't agree with Derek breaking the rules like this, and he deserves a slapped wrist for it.

Yes, I think it will work both ways for Derek: those who admired Thatcher, and other right wingers, will love him; those with a different take on things will not - whatever he does in the house.
