Anyway, hope he raises his game for season two, as he's been well and truly shown up by his own personally selected writers as (dare I say it?) the weakest link. Less "Pobol Y Cwm" and more science-fiction'd be a good start! ”

It's worth at least remembering the mechanics of reintroducing Doctor Who...RTD was largely responsible for storylining the series, the writing team was put together to provide variety and depth...as I said previously, there are signs that even RTD was pulled in a number of directions in getting this to the screen but also, interestingly, he has taken on the toughest jobs himself so that in the end, he will carry the can for them...as any good leader would.

Oh I do hope so! So much care has been put into this series I'm sure we've been been lovingly led along a garden path of some sort It would be terrible if we "knew everything".

On the Nestene scene, you could actually interpret it's speech and lip-movements to say "Bad Wolf" - if you really want to believe, that is. And it says it twice!

Goes something like this:

Nestene: "Bad Wolf" sound and lip-sync.
Doc: "What do you mean?"

Door opens to reveal Tardis.

Doc: No! No! Honestly, no! That's my ship.

Nestene: "Bad Wolf" (more pronounced).

Doc: That's not true. I was there. I fought in the War.

All fits. If you want to believe. And just watching it again - it makes for a convincing argument. May just be so... that if we were paying attention, the "Bad Wolf" was actually revealed in Episode #1.

Which would also mean the Doc knows exactly what "Bad Wolf" is all about (the way to voyeuristically tune in to, or even cause, a cataclysmic event)?

Hmmmm - not sure about this. Like you say you really have to want to see it there. If it is there - why isn't it listed in the BBC's Bad Wolf site? That starts at episode 2...

I'm not sure about it either jim, but it is maybe telling that they didn't include it as a possibility on the website, no?

Well variety is the spice of life and one of the great things about Doctor Who is the flexible format that allows you to tell any story. If you want the same thing every week watch Star Trek

I thought this story was fantastic. Not quite as powerful as some of the others but still very good. Margret Slethene was brilliant and the whole piece was a good lull before the storm episode. A series like this needs pacing and all hell is about to break out by the look of it. It is also the last time we will really see them all together I suspect.

This series has been excellent TV by any standard and will live long in the memory.

Great piece about Bad Wolf in the Telegraph.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/opinion/m.../ixportal.html

Final two paragraphs read:

Bad wolf is, ultimately, proof that the writers of Dr Who have really thought about what they are doing; have worked to give a real, satisfying and complex shape to Saturday-night schlock. They're ambitious. As Clive James once remarked: good schlock is always better than bad art.

The new Dr Who - ahead of any possible expectations - is a triumph. Funny, scary, moving, silly and above all really, really well crafted, it is as good a piece of popular entertainment as television has lately produced. It serves - and for this we must surely thank it - as a standing rebuke to the notion that the unplanned formats of reality TV and docudrama are the way forward.

The Nestene scene is curious, not because we may think it says "Bad Wolf" twice, but because of what the Doctor says around the Nestene's words.

On each occasion, the Nestene makes the lip movements to indicate two words or two syllables.

What else could it be saying that fits the lip-sync and explains how the Doctor responded?

I have watched this over and over again, and I still cannot hear the nestene say bad wolf, maybe I am just going deaf?

Nestene imaginings apart, to turn to the updated website briefly. Nicely done, funny but not exactly overflowing with new information...damn!...anyone recall who posted that URL showing the person we were surprised about and the words the caused a bit of a furore on last week's thread? You know the page that mysteriously appeared when the poster mentioned it and then vanished soon after? That isn't anything to do with the new Bad Wolf site? Hmmm...I think that poster may be a mole...can moles operate computers?

Opinion is divided...on whether it says the words, not on you being deaf sammie Personally, I'd say the fact this isn't in the clues section of the Bad Wolf site means a) it's a figment of someone's overactive imagination or b) it's so important that it was ommitted from the clue list to highlight it by ommission...useful, eh?

It's good that Endemol let them use the logo. I suppose all publicity is good publicity, even though I think some of the storyline may be somewht critical of BB style entertainment.

After seeing the trailor....,

Spoiler
Thought the Dalek scene very remeniscent of the 60s movies. Know it was only a tantelising 'ALERT! WE HAVE BEEN DETECTED!' but have watched it a few times now!

On 'Bad Wolf' check out the new TV and Satellite Week, out today. It has a short article on the subject with quotes from RTD. Evidently he did not expect many people to spot the clues. It also includes referenced clues including the Nestene consciousness mouthing the words during Episode One. So it is either a real clue or this listings mag have been reading your posts.

But wasn't it revealed at the time that Episode #6 would be the last time we'd see this design of Dalek? So what's going on? Are we getting the Spider Daleks or wot?

Like I said - there's nothing else that fits as perfectly with the Doctor's dialogue in that scene other than "Bad Wolf". So yes, the Nestene definitely says "Bad Wolf".

I think we might get a new, redesigned Emperor Dalek, if rumours are to be believed, along with the redesigned 'grunts' we saw in episode six.
