Poor eviction procedure...

Am I alone in thinking the actual eviction of Mary was piss poor?

There was absolutely no atmosphere or tension at all, despite that tension bed of music blaring out of my TV.

The other housemates were just left sitting idly on the sofas, not looking at all bothered someone was being evicted, while Mary sodded off on her own.

I mean, what precisely was the point of keeping the HMs separate?

It can't be because of suggested reasons that it's so they can't see whether someone's been evicted or not - the whole house is transparent, you can see the front door from the lounge.

And it can't be to keep the HMs from holding the door open and seeing the outside world - the stairs are back.

It can't be to stop the HMs hearing boos - Davina still announces things from outside where the crowd are making a right racket.

And that woman doing the countdown and "You have been evicted" bit. I mean, why did she even bother getting out of bed. Absolutely no effort at all. Without meaning to be sexist (but being sexist anyway ) that's a mans job. It just sounds so much better, I'm sorry.

That bit after Davina says they have 30 secs (which should be a minute again, by the way) would've been so amazing had they all fallen over each other trying to get to the front door. I can just imagine it now, it would be amazing.

The two minutes between "1 minute" and Davina throwing to a break is the highlight of the week, and what the whole BB week leads up to, and it just didn't impress me at all.

Whoever decided that's the way it would be this year needs slapping across the face with a cold, wet fish. Preferable a large one. That smells a lot.

I demand it's changed next week. Are you listening...er, whoever decides! Good. I look forward to seeing it how it should be done.

Endemol have devoted all their staff to counting their ill-gotten loot.

They will get back to you... at some point... hopefully

Yeah, that was really lame. Evictions are so much more entertaining when housemates are cheering someone up the stairs, then waiting to hear the response he or she gets. Last night was just stupid. Mary just wandered up the stairs in silence. She probably would have had more confidence going out if the other housemates had been supporting her all the way.

Is it actually a rule that they have to stay seated? Did Mary ask them not to follow her? Did they just not bother? I don't know. I just hope it changes by next week.

That's a really good point. I think she probably would have.

I read before the show started the eviction announcement would be made from the lounge, and the HMs must remain seated, so it must be a rule.

And what a fecking stupid one it is, BB!

Did he actually do it last year? I always took his comments to be a joke.

Well, saw the eviction again and noticed there was a blind over the kitchen doors and Mary left through that single door, so it's obviously to keep the housemates from seeing if the evictee has left or not. Which is stupid, considering they could hear the crowd cheer when the doors opened.

So, please BB - let all the HMs crowd around the front door again. Pretty please - with cherries on top. And shit.

Yep, not having the Housemates round the door makes evictions not like they used to be.

I also miss the Housemates singing when the go to nominate like in BB2...BB2 was the best for nominations and evictions, I liked it then

Apart from the shocking evictions the series is great

I agree with you on this, she was crap!

They need to go back to the pre-recorded/robotic voice that they've had in previous series'. She sounded like she was saying it as it happened and it was laughable when she repeated 'Mary, please leave the Big Brother house'.

And I'm also in agreement that it lacked tension, considering what a tight battle it was - there should've been much more atmosphere surrounding the build-up and Mary's exit itself.

Yep the voice should be changed...

It would of been insincere to be fake with Mary since nominations she suspected everyone of backstabbing her. So, thereafter she lost favour with the other HMs.

Mary's eviction completely lacked atmosphere! Endemol are either going to have to change it OR perhaps there is a hidden agenda as to where the housemate actually goes. Mind you, since there is a toilet in the lounge area, I suspect this is the planned eviction procedure for this series!

Yeah, we did hear before the show started that the housemates were restricted to the lounge on eviction nights. It's really stupid. I can't see anything positive coming from it.

They've used it for one week, it was an experiment, it didn't work, dump it.

My guess is they wouldn't have done it in the first place if it wasn't for a purpose - one of the producers mentioned that it was so the other HMs couldn't tell if the HM had actually left the house. They must have something planned.

I liked it better when the seating area was by the door and they could wave her off at the actual exit.

But, as I said earlier, the housemates commented on the crowd cheering, so they know when the door has opened and the housemate has left. If they do another Bedsit type thing, when the housemates don't hear the huge roar from the audience, they'll suspect something. Although, perhaps the fake crowd noise will be pumped in earlier. I do hope there is some sort of twist, so it'll at least make up for this crap way of evicting someone.

I think it's quite a novel way of evicting them actually. It increases paranoia.

I do agree with Fenixx, though, that it needs to be handled better. But I've always been picky with the eviction proceedure and each one has had it's disadvantages.

In BB3 they could hear the crowd really easily (who can remember "Jade Out!")

In BB4... hmm.. that wasn't too bad actually.

In BB5 the bedsit thing was almost ruined because they kept having to tell the HMs to close the inside door... it just looked like something strange was going on.

Don't mind the eviction process too far, although they need a longer countdown. AND I'm still p*ssed off that Davina isn't making her announcements in the studio!

...Big Brother, about the eviction procedure.

I had a brilliant idea - This week, Davina doesn't announce who's gone, but the countdown bloke - who has replaced that awful woman - does instead.

The one minute (not 30 second ) coutdown starts after they're all ordered to the front door, no-one knows who it's gonna be and then...

"3....2.....1.....................HOUSEMATE, you have been evicted, please leave the Big Brother House"

Television GOLD, I tell ya!

The whole eviction show format is wrong. The main source of drama and excitement, besides the announcement itself, is seeing how the evictee reacts to a whole load of stuff being revealed to them e.g. behind the back gossipping, nominations, secret BB tricks etc. Yet the show is so rushed that there is never any time to A) Reveal everything to the evictee and B) Give them a chance to give a coherent, thought-out reaction.

Every eviciton night show is a disappointment because of this!

I agree they should go to the door as they used to, it's just like a crap 'bye' now. Not feeling it!

I would do one of two things now that they have seperated the libingroom and the kitchen.

They should either have all the HMs sitting around the table waiting for the name and then straight out.

Or They should have the HMs in the living room as at present with the nominees waiting in the kitchen area but out of site of the living room.

That way the first the rest of the HMs would know as to who has been evicted would be who doesnt return to the living room.
