E4 picture break-up
Stunty
04-06-2005
Does anybody else get picture break-up on the E4 & E4+1 and interactive coverage.

It happened last year too at the start of BB5. I have already given up watching this morning after five minutes as it's so annoyng.

I’ve been getting that quite a bit on freeview over the last couple of days.

Same probs for me,
I thought it was my sky dish that was faulty so have asked sky to send an engineer.

I've got cable and it's been happening on all channels for about a week.

Hey ernie you should of got me on the phone, I had quite a few calls yesterday about that (I work on sky cus service) I took the trouble to check with our own broadcast to see if there was any breakup and informed the customers that it was an E4 fault at the time.

What time would this have been? I watched quite a bit of the live feed yesterday and experienced no problems (and would E4 interference affect live streaming on a seperate channel, ie. 705 on Freeview? Presumably.)

Same problem for me with Sky -- but I'm also having problems with C4 and ITV, though not nearly as bad as with E4 which becomes unwatchable for long periods of time.

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one -- I thought it was a problem with my dish.

Can't remember the time working 12 hour shifts it all tends to blur into one. But it was definatly affecting sky's feed there can be several points where this can occur it may have been the feed going to sky so only sky was affected. On some rare occasions it can be a problem with regional signals although it all comes from the same satalite the feeds are split by postcode so regional avertising can be inserted. More likely it was the feed from E4 to the sky feed.

I can't really speak about what another advisor told you. But I know I spend alot of my time correcting the mistakes of people who have handled a problem before me. I alwaysget complained about because I spend too long dealing with problems after the customer has gone off the line but I prefer to get things right first time.

Sky are a queer lot.
My LNB went down and I rang them to send out an engineer.
I was told I had to pay for the service - I said no.

They rang me back to say that I could pay half the fee as I was a 'valued customer.' I said no .....

I then had a change of heart, rang them to say send an engineer for half price and was told the offer only stood for the 1st offer. I said no to it so couldn't have the half price engineer

It ended with me cancelling all Sky services.

Then ..........

I was rang 1 week later and asked why I had cancelled.
I went through the story and was then offered a brand new system and 3 months free viewing.

I took it

Picture is fine here via Sky and Freeview.

I presumed it was an E4 problem as it only happens when BB is on, never any other time of the year! Would have thought they would have got it sorted as many viewers like myself will just give up.

It's particularly dreadful this morning, I'm off to watch the Derby coverage with no interference.

Yeah that sounds about right, if they call me and don't want to pay for a service call I try and gently push them to say they want to cancel, at that point I can transfere them to the cancellations department who will give them a free service call to keep them as a customer. Sky won't give anything for free unless you threaten to cancel.
