Motorola V3 dead
Nick555

Hi

I bought a new V3 on Thursday & charged it correctly before using it. I took the phone out with me today (Saturday) & when I opened the flip to use the phone, it went dead. I have tried to charge it for 6 hours but it's still dead - also the charger is cold to the touch. I removed & replaced the battery.

This is the first time I've had a cellphone go dead on me for 20 years, is there some sort of reset I can try? The phone has a mini USB connector to charge, so I can't use another charger as a test.

Regards
Nick

Hi

Sorry to hear about your V3 experience I have had two of these phones, the silver and the black one and to be honest have had no problems. It does go slow when bluetooth is on but thats it

Have you tried using the mains battery charger instead of the USB, might be slightly more reliable. If that doesnt work take it back to your shop

Could be a dodgy charger if its cold to touch

Thanks Andy

I've tried both the mains charger & charging from the pc.

Do you know if I can do a reset?

Yes, but also it won't charge from the USB computer lead. I will test this again for longer though.

I bought it online at Mobilefun. I'll speak to them on Monday as they are closed over the weekend.

Maybe you could take it to an authorised motorola service dealer near you and get the battery exchanged, like they do for club nokia service centres.

Thanks guys

I've tried to charge from the USB socket also with no luck - the phone is dead. I will call Mobile Fun on Monday. I won't take it to a service centre as I would then lose rights under the Sales of Goods Act as the phone is very new - & I paid by CC.

Good customer service from Mobile Fun.

They were closed over the weekend & it was difficult to reach them by phone Monday morning. I managed to speak to them after lunch on Monday & they asked me to return the V3. I returned it by Special delivery & they sent my a new phone the same day they received the dead phone. So this morning, I now have my new phone.

"Thank you" to Mobile Fun for a very quick turnaround. They also refunded my special delivery return costs.
