That's outstanding, Vicky - so what do you think of Cap'n Jack?

I'm also looking forward to the Doc visiting other worlds. If I had to pick a drawback for this series, I'd say that being continually earthbound has made the show feel a bit samey. I've loved it - but I think we've had a bit too much of Mickey for example. His whining this week was a bit much - I felt it had been done already.

So more galactic wanderings please, and less soap. Ta!

I guess it shows how popular the cybermen are if even people who wouldn't normally read or contribute to the episode thread post about their excitement here.

Absolutely! hopefully we'll see a new side to them like we did with the Daleks last month, possibly along the lines of Marc Platts Big Finish audio play Spare Parts. Rotting, decaying cybermen with prosthetic limbs would be a good angle, as would the threat of mental cybernisation.

I love Chris and Billie but the series will survive without them. Just think what it must have been like in 1969 when Doctor 2, Jamie and Zoe all left in the same episode.

In 2006, I would like to see:

A Captain Jack spin-off series (assuming he survives this series)
At least one former companion making a guest appearance (Sarah Jane please!)
At least a couple of gothic horror episodes
A UNIT episode
The Master return, and for it to be revealed that he and the Doctor weren't brothers but were, in fact, a couple going through a particularly nasty divorce.

That sounds like a fantastic idea - did they take the story back to the cybermen's inception?

I think that could be a fascinating angle to take with the race.

According to this Episode Guide its series 28

Episode Guide

I think it will be great. Obviously there will be differences but the show has survived major cast changes before.

Don't worry too much about it DQ - the BBC marks this new series down as series one, but we all know that 26 series have gone before it

Expectations of SERIES 2?

More CBBC-style writing from Russell T Davies;
intelligent and near-the-bone script from Mark Gatiss;
more stunning visual effects from MillTV;
stylist styling from Ernie Vincze BSC;
and cinematic score from Murray Gold.

I'm surprised Paul Cornell (Father's Day) and Rob Shearman (Dalek) didn't get a mention for scripts?

And Steven Moffatt for The Empty Child

Isn't Gattiss the only one confirmed for season 2, though?

So far - and I heard RTD is to write another five scripts - although that may well change once they get into the actual making of season two.

I think on balance I'm relieved that David Walliams will not be writing a script - no offence to him, he's excellent at what he does, but I'm not sure he would have the 'depth' to write for the series.

well with CE and BP leaving I doubt the show will be as good as this season

lol, if that were true sammie, it wouldn't be celebrating it's 42nd birthday in November...the show's always been far better than the actors and remains so, even in the Heat stroke times in which we live now

I agree, when I heard Billie Piper had the job my heart sank, but know I think "thank god she got the part, shes been great".

I am sure that the BBC will get it right, they have too much riding on ths show

It was a rumour that never got confirmed I think sal, from what I can gather RTD's interested in forming and keeping a team for the show rather than going down the route of novelty turns by writers and actors which given the disastrous history of such things (Corrie apart recently) might not be such a bad thing all round!

well my friend, I cant argue with that.
If you get a team of say 5 or 6 writters, then obviously they will get to know the overall structure very well, and the series will become more cohesive as it goes on.

I was hoewever looking forward to the "I'm the only gay in the Tardis" gags

hehehe

I think the Walliams rumour got debunked in DWM...

Hmmm I thought that Steven Moffatt was confirmed for the next season.

Yep we know that it's season 28 but the BBC probably prefer to think of it as season 2 of Doctor Who - The Next Regeneration

I'll just go and get me coat.

Well, Jubilee was re-written for Dalek, so I can't see why they couldn't re-write Spare Parts for series two.

In fact, I think I've just given RTD a brainwave.

This is the list of confirmed writers from the Doctor Who Magazine two months ago (which were the first to have the news about the cybermen returning if I remember rightly)

Writers are : -
RTD (5+xmas)
Tom MacRae (2 episodes)
Matt Jones (2 episodes)
Steven Moffat (1 episode)
Mark Gatiss (1 episode)
Toby Whithouse (1 episode)
