Don't worry too much Bohochick.

The more experienced amongst us who understand why god granted us with two ears yet just one mouth get to identify the more interesting threads and read the interesting posts that hide within.

Sometimes I get so engrossed in one ot two particular threads, I miss the multiple new pointless threads that appear.

Keep up the good work!

Btw..I am not sure how this came across in my original thread after reading the post before....but I really was talking about everyone being heard..not just me. I wasn't saying 'Hey..no one read my posts...boo hoo poor me'..I was just quoting what I did this morning as an example.

I don't blame people if they don't want to read my posts, most of them are utter twaddle..just was trying to stick up for both sides of the debate from a newbies perspective.

Absolutely - I certainly didn't read it any other way

You just happened to bring up a point I had thought about as to why people post in the way that they do!

Yes I wasn't planning on reading any of your posts. They are probably rubbish.

Is there still a week's delay from the joining date to being able to start threads on here? Unless I am imagining it I am sure when I first joined for the first week we were only able to post on existing threads, maybe if that was brought back it would give newbies a bit of time to settle into how the forum runs and cut back on quite so many rushing off to start new threads without first checking if there is already one on the same subject?

No Beth said they scrapped that rule.

I'm wondering if we could have one of those complicated rating systems, where you get points awarded to you or taken away by other FMs depending on the quality of your posts. Users can then set the threshold of the level of poster they wish to see threads from. It usually means that the spammers, the bigots and the idiots drop below the default level.

East of the Web/ Short Stories Online & Slashdot use this system.

A bit like the Ebay way of rating people/giving feedback. That would be a great idea.

Great! This is a busy site and lots of forums here such as the BB and the Pop Idol/ X Factor ones can get overloaded.

I have to say that the forum does seem a bit more under control than usual but then it is a quiet moment.

Still I'd like to see a rating system. That would keep some of the 'May BB newbies' down!!!

No, I rarely start threads myself but some start many good ones.
