An inflatable splint is a temporary emergency measure that is used whilst an injured person is being transported to hospital. It should only be fitted by trained persons.
Inflatable splints are NOT meant as a permanent cast to support a broken limb and should not be used in conjunction with crutches.
If a splint is inflated above systolic blood pressure for a prolonged period it is highly likely deep vein thrombosis will occur and this, even when the subject is in good general health, can lead to a pulmonary embolism and death.
Sam was set-up to fail. She was in pain and even had the sense to know the splint had been inflated to too high a pressure and she was in danger of suffering deep vein thrombosis.
She took the thing off despite the bile and malice and ignorance of the others pressuring her to suffer. Well done Sam!
How low are the Endemol scum – they actually risked killing Sam!!!
