Now you go and run a TV show, examine all the health and safety aspects that are considered, reconsidered and implemented on everything that happens.

Its not really likely she have been in danger now is it.

It sounds as if you're quite aware of how bad this situation could be and I think after reading your comments, tonight's show definitely didn't do anything to show that Sam could have been in danger because of it.

Have you written to Channel Four yet?

Helga, I appreciate what you are trying to say but the splint really did not look that inflated. Roberto just did not blow it up properly. It looked loose and crinkly i.e. not enough air in it. If there was enough air it would have been stiffer.

It's not that hard to drink cod liver oil.

She said she took it off because of the pain and because she was worried about getting deep vein thrombosis. Did you not see? Did you not hear?

i think inflatable splints are used to treat deep vein thrombosis not cause it.Thats what my nurse sister says anyway

Not quite.
A clot would usually pass thru your heart and then end up in your lungs blocking off either a complete lobe or a segment f them, depending on the size of the clot.
I actually agree with Sam that this was potentially dodgy.
She's a fit healthy woman who's probably on the pill.
Why put her at an increased risk of a DVT and PE?
That splint was WELL dodgy imo (as a doc).

Helga, you have made a valid point.

Someone mentioned that this task was probably checked out by a qualified doctor. The point is the cast was put on by unqualified hms.

Surely this would be the same effect as putting an elastic band around your wrist. The circulation would be affected and the blood supply would be restricted.

There was probably far too much air pumped into the cast and her leg was starting to feel numb and she had to take it off (I didn't see this but just responding if this was the case).

I'm not saying her life was at risk but it's certainly dangerous to have anything restricting the blood supply if this is why she took it off.

Whether Sam was in any real danger or not, using real medical appliances in this sort of situation is a little irresponsible of BB...

Sorry but I have to make a stand again, this time it's against hysteria. Is Roberto's breath high pressure? and did Sam have it on for hours. NO

Is Sam going to snuff it because she had a splint on her leg? NO

Nope
Not in my experience.
Seriously think this task is very very dodgy.
I don't normally say much about things like this but imo it's very questionable.

Special splints - pressure setting critical etc.

Great post. Im seriously concerned at the levels of hysteria on these forums. Try and think of something other than BB for about 5 minutes people and you might all feel better.

Please stop posting stupid threads, you are not impressing anyone.”

Aaaaah, the irony.

Oh why doesn't everyone write to bloody channel four and complain again! Or better still ring the bloody police and arrest Roberto for putting too much air in the splint.

If they don't know what they're doing they might inadvertantly risk it. Don't forget about that contestant that got killed on a Noel Edmonds show a 10 or so years ago. Don't assume because it's TV, its competent.

Really though, I'm curious. Has anyone complained directly to Channel Four about it? I'd love Big Brother to apologise.

"Hello Sam", says Big Brother in the Diary Room.
"Hi Big Bruva"
"Sam, Big Brother would like to take this oppurtunity to apologise for nearly killing you yesterday."
" "
"Big Brother takes killing housemates very seriously. Therefore, Sam, Big Brother is issuing Big Brother with its first formal warning."

Even if the H&S aspects in the house have been considered, its unwise to show something that might encourage kids to play with any medical equipment they might come accross. They could have done the task with just bandages and toys...

We are talking about systolic blood pressure not blowing up car tyres FGS! Systolic blood pressure can easily be exceeded by a person with normal lungs.

I'm not...I did defend her being bullied and that still is not right, but after watching last night and today on live streaming and the C4 show tonight I have worked out she is not a very nice person..so she can go now.

And not collect £200 .
