Sim card question...
flicker
09-06-2005
I've just bought a cheapy 2nd hand phone, exactly the same as the one I currently use, to keep as a spare, back-up whatever. I have put my old sim card (which is Vodaphone) in it, the phone is supposed to be Vodaphone, and all I am getting is Network Search, when I press info, it says Card rejected. Everything else works on the menus, old text messages, all my addresses etc. I haven't used the sim since Jan 2003, when my old phone bust.

The phone I use currently is on Orange, although they are the same phone (Siemens A55) so I can't try another sim, although I did try it just in case I had been given the wrong network, and I got a locked message.

My questions are therefore, do sims become void after you haven't used them for a while? Will I need to buy another sim, and then maybe find that its the phone that's faulty? And if I do that, I will presumably lose all my stored info.

HELP!

Most networks cancel ur sim if you haven't made a call for 6 months so it probably is your sim. Contact Vodafone either by email, visiting their website or phoning customer services. This is the most likely cause.

Thank you, will try that and see what they say, before I go off on a rant to the person I bought the phone from! Cheers for answering so quickly.

Just phoned Vodaphone. Apparently they can't re-activate a sim card after 6 months, so it's pointless me having another phone as a back up anyway, I hardly ever use my Orange one, it was only because occasionally around here you can't get a signal on Orange, but you can on Voda.

Another thing I have wasted my money on.
