I think he is a nice guy as well
And I also think the reason he goes on so much about the food and shopping list (I hate that too ) is he knows just how unbearable some of the other HM's will be when the food runs out and they are on rations

I cant understand why this year they have not got themselves into a food/shopping routine like all the other years

Bohochick! (and others...)

Careful of the "he's not British" thing! It was suggested last year with Ahmed and led to all manner of unpleasantness.

I'm having the same problem with all of them.

I also think that you will find that he is in there for a purpose (like Craig from BB1), and not for self glory. Obviously he is not allowed to say, but it was interesting that during Maxwell's question time (from Saskia), that he picked Roberto to share his money with (with a knowing nod of satisfaction from Saskia). Despite his somewhat over the top rants about housekeeping etc, he remains the most genuine nice HM.

Okay apologies if I offended anyone...I wasn't on here last year, but was just pointing out he is fiery and that is his nature, (I didn't insult anyone did I? )..that Italian side of his character has been pointed out on here alot, and much worse things have been said about him in that respect (e.g...send him back home and call immigration, etc) and also on BBLB by some 'experts'.

I am British, but if I can't mention that Roberto is Italian or Kemal is Turkish as alot of people have on here..what can I mention? I would never say anything derogatory about anyone...just thought it was a point that has been made by others and should be taken into account when people do not get some of Robertos comments.

I'll shut up now.

No offence intended to anyone. Sorry.

[quote=Bohochick]I have been to Italy alot, and the guys there are passioante, are a bit 'male' in that they love to be looked after by women and like women to be women. (Without trying to be stereo typical).

Roberto isn't British...so he doesn't behave as the Brits do...there are two totally different cultures are at play here which I wish some people would take into account. [quote]

That's so true Bohochick. He's just not on the same wavelength emotionally as the other HMs or a lot of the viewers - my bloke is latin too (not italian) and I really shudder to think what people would make of him if he was in the BB house! He's the kindest, sweetest, most caring man I've ever met but he shouts ALL the time, even when he's not angry - his family are the same - and if you're not used to him, you'd think he's being aggressive. It still winds me up at times, even though I'm used to it by now. If anything, I think Roberto's toned his Latin-ness down a bit after living here for so long.

It was tongue in cheek, bohochick - if someone is offended by something, they have the option to alert the mods. Don't you worry!

Sometimes I like Roberto and other times I can't stand him. I do think we need to keep him in because they need older HM's in the house. If he went the house would probably descend into chaos because the rest of the house are all aged 25 and under. They are just too young to act sensibly and maturely.

Except of course Derek who is an immatue shit stirring muppet. But thats another thread.

I do like Roberto - he has very pretty eyelashes and a nice accent (shallow, moi?).

I think he allows himself to get wound up to easily though...

I really support Rob. I even support his moaning about food. They've basically run out now; the spoiled brats didn't have any foresight.

Please don't shut up. I love your posts and I don't see you offending anyone or having broken any DS rules. Although it doesn't hurt to remind some forum members of the rules for their own good at times, as far as I can see you have done nothing wrong. If you have the mods would be quick to point it out, and only the Mods have a right to do so by giving a friendly warning imho.

He did try and tell them this could happen as did Science too but would they listen, no I have no sympathy for them now, other than Rob and Science where the food is concerned.

Bet they will be begging Rob to cook stuff for them now, with their meagre rations.

Roberto is chauvinistic and homophobic.

If anyone called me "woman" in that demeaning way he did to Makosi and Sam there's no way I could have kept hold of my temper.

I, personally, cannot stand Roberto. I would rather keep Lesleh in than him. He has to make a huge issue out of everything, I also think that he has quite high standards and if nobody matches them then watch out.

And I also agree with the "woman" thing, I would have smacked him one, what an arrogant a***hole.

It's been suggested that this could be a major cultural difference between Roberto's home environment and the country where he now lives. What we consider chauvinistic may not be considered in the same light in another country.

It might not be considered chauvinistic to not allow women the vote in some countries. That doesn't mean it isn't.

There are no excuses for the way he picks on people he "thinks" are weaker than himself, particularly women.

I can't see most British women affording him that distinction though Cameron. Sexism is sexism, wherever it exists. I guess the extreme of sexism against women is in the Muslim world (hey flamers, no Fatwahs right - it's only an observation!).

And anyway Roberto's been living in this country for something like seven years. He should have picked up on what is acceptable by now.

Or perhaps he's like this in the real world, always shouting at people and never thinking he might need to learn something himself.

If Roberto didn't lecture Kemal like he was "telling him off" then maybe Kemal wouldn't respond the way he does. I find Roberto one of the worst listeners in the house. He drones on and on and doesn't care what anybody else thinks.

Thanks TRM. I was only offering a possible explanation, not justifying his behaviour.

I am only half Italian and I am sometimes considered fiery and arrogant and loud. But I am also generous, passionate and interesting.

I am always blaming it on my 'Italian temprement'

I think he makes many valid points about the food in a house of spoilt self-centred, greedy brats. If it was me in there, I'd throw the food at them instead of cooking and serving for them.
