OK I know this is well after the fact pretty boring and of no real rellevance.

Scary mary mike problems were caused by talking directly into the mic all other house mates spoke to each other Mary always spoke with her head down so the mic picked up all the air flow and involutary spittle. This is why hand mic's have a big foam cover and outside boom mic's have fluffy covers to cut out wind noise.
Those mic's are so small and without enough proper protection they will pick up everything that is directed straight at them.

Ok that may explain the personal mic problem..well maybe not all four of them but can you explain why the TWO hand mic's at the press conference went down? And after being checked at the end of the press conference where both working fine?
