But does an electric oven cost more to run than gas ?
For the hob i am going for gas since my electric hob seems to have only two settings, either too hot or too cold.
But then it may be me thats a rubbish cook.

For hobs the real advantage of gas is the instant heat, you don't have to wait like you do with an electric hob, not sure about ovens as I have always used electric ovens.

Besides being in the BB house, I think food is the only thing they all have in common.

At least this oven discussion is just an interlude for us - food discussions are the norm for them

Would it be too pathetic to make the link between ovens and Lesleh's head?

I am away to eat. I got sidetracked on the C4 forums. There was a facinating thread on the BB forum about meat and should you wash it before cooking it. Whatever happened to all the teeny texters that used to be on there during BB3?

Now there's a good arguement for a gas oven

Gas is better for hobs and ovens, the heat is easier and quicker to control. I only ever use gas for cooking. It is also more economical - electric hobs and ovens are very expensive to run.

But only us on the outside can see that, they are perfect in their own eyes.

Only if it's a Gas oven and you are suggesting she sticks her head in it!

I've just suffered a power cut ....I can cope - would they?! I mean how would they manage without a toaster?

I just wonder how much more it costs to cook with electric as compared to gas. On the hob side I am going to go with gas as theres more control.
But the oven I am undecided.

Go for gas if you can. Try to avoid electric at all costs
