I don't understand

Everyone is talking about the bad wolf theory

What is this theory?

In what episodes has it been mentioned in?

I don't get it either, I don't even spot these references. I suppose it'll hit me soon enough?

In most episodes this series there have been constant references made either visually or verbally about the Bad Wolf. Everyone has theories as to what it could all mean but I guess we will find out in Episode 12.

Or Episode 11 when we see the "next time" bit at the end, which I'm sure will basically give us an almost complete summary of what is going to happen in the next episode.

Maybe someone will have given a list by the time I've written this, but I'll carry on on anyway.

In 'The End of the World' the Moxx of Balhoon talks to the Face of Boe about a 'bad wolf senario'.

In 'The Unquiet Dead' Gwyneth reads Rose's mind and says 'The things you [Rose] have seen....the darkness...the big Bad Wolf' and she recoils away from Rose in fear.

In 'Aliens in London' a young boy draws 'Bad Wolf' on the side of the Tardis.

In 'WWIII' the graffiti is washed of the side of the Tardis.

In 'Dalek' the helicopter carrying van Staten has the call sign 'Bad Wolf One'

In 'The Long Game' there is a TV station showing a pregnant Face of Boe called 'Bad Wolf TV'

In 'Father's Day' there is a poster on the wall with the faint words of 'Bad Wolf' written over in some sort of pen.

Some people also say in 'Rose' that the Nestene Conciousness mouths the words 'bad wolf' when the Tardis is revealed and that in the AOL/WW3 two parter online picture show the American reporter to be called Mal Loup (the French words for 'bad' and 'wolf' respectively).

There are also references to 'Bad Wolf' in a couple of BBC websites that are emant to belong to people in the show. For example, from 'Dalek' van Staten's company is Geocomtex. On the Geocomtex website they have a products section under which is says "Node Stabilised (Lupus and Nocens variants)", 'Lupus' being latin for 'wolf' and 'nocens' can mean latin for 'bad'.

And you can't forget the pig from the spaceship...as in 'The Three Little Pig', with the big bad wolf who would 'huff and puff and blow their houses down'.

So what are peoples theories on the bad wolf?

I think that possibly the dr could be the wolf but that would make him a bad person which wouldnt make sense....

Possibly rose is a bad person and in the future becomes responsible for possibly the end of the world?

Not sure...

Well, the theory ought to be that the little pigs win in the end.

No idea whether that's true for Dr Who, just what it ought to mean.

Bad Wolf could be to do with Norse mythology.Perhaps the final battle.

Reading the 101 Dr Who threads on here put me in the mind that "Bad Wolf" is indeed the same character as played by the lovely Bruno Langley, no?

here's my take on the whole "bad wolf" thing...

in the fairytale the wolf disguises himself as the grandma and is asked "what big eyes you have" "what big teeth you have".

which character has big eyes and big teeth......Rose.

Therefore, I think an enemy is going to disguise itself as Rose to cause havoc.

Another Forum Member..Alrightmate..put a very interesting theory forward that Bad Wolf could be the name of a reality TV programme. RTD is a fan of Big Brother and it is rumoured that one of the episodes might be based around a reality game show in the future. Just a rumour and speculation so could be wrong but a very interesting thought though!

I don't think Rose is bad but I reckon there is more to her than meets the eye.

This is all quite mysterious, and I have onyl notcied one or two of these references........I certinaly didnt click that Rose could be a "Little red riding hood" until it was mentioned here.

maybe the wolf is a reference to something like a warewolf, maybe one of the charatcers we are familiar with will change at some point into something evil?

I like the idea of the reality show which is really just televised war, in other words the time war is part of "Bad Wolf" its all too complicated the writers done a good job keeping it concealed and leaving lots of options open.

Um i read that theory and i think its not as complicated as that. It will probably be something very simple. I just think some people are looking into the whole bad wold thing a bit too deeply.

Oh well...we'll find out soon...

Maybe the doctor's the bad wolf, maybe he's stolen the real doctor's identity. Which might explain why some people have said that both CE and DT are in episode 13...

Or maybe that's totally mad.

Or maybe there is just a BAD WOLF.

That's right, a wolf that is not good. A bad wolf. You've all gone too deep.

But both CE and DT can be in episode 13 for a more undertsandable reason of there being a regeneration...

I agree, I do not think CE is THE doctor (more like a bad wolf), and Rose is the little red riding hood type character - she's been seen in many an episode with hooded (reddish colour) tops, even the baby's pram last night has a reddish hood!

Anyone who's come too close to know more about CE have been killed off (Clive, Nestene Consciousness, Jabe, the Maid, the DALEK, the Editor).

Also why would the BBC not have had a clause in CEs contract to stay on as the Doctor for another series (if this one took off), and hence waste a very valuable generation life.

All wild theories I know, we will have to wait for the "Bad Wolf" episode to find out what it all means...
