Virgin use T-Mobiles network, so any T-Mobile / One 2 One phone will work fine on Virgin - no need to get it unlocked or anything

And krisyeo - chances are that your Phone will still say T-Mobile when your Virgin SIM is in because of the reasons above.

i just got ported over to virgin at about 6pm this evening. and it says Virgin on the screen.

im VERY please with my switch from one2one to virgin... its been hassell free and ive kept my old number!!

A logo has two parts. One is the picture itself and two is a network identifier. Remember, the name is OPERATOR logo, so a logo is displayed instead of a certain OPERATOR name. In other words, a logo belongs to a network. Every network has its own unique code and that code is embedded in the logo. A logo will only be displayed if the embedded network code is the same as the network you are logged on to.

For example, you have received a logo for network 123. Your phone has logged on to network 123. The logo is displayed. As soon as you travel to another country and you log on to another network the normal network name is displayed. The logo is not erased, it's just not being displayed while you are there.

There's that place on the web where I can send logo's to my phone. However, it does not ask me for a network code and I don't see the logo so it must be a wrong code.
This happens sometimes. A website not asking for a code does not mean that there's no network code embedded in the logo. The website will try to determine the correct code based on your phonenumber, because they feel asking the code is to difficult for their users. The drawback is that the website will guess wrong every now and then causing you to receive a logo that you will not be able to see.

There's no 'delete' option in the phone. You will have to send a logo to your phone with a fake network code, from a network you will probably never log on to.

I wouldn't guarentee it. As other people have said, the network only sends a country code and the operator code to your phone. Your phone has a table of all mobile phone operators that existed when your phone was made. It looks up the code in the table and displays the corresponding name. If the name is not listed, it either just displays the code, or it may be able to decode the country code and display it.

THE ONLY WAY THAT BTCELLNET CAN CHANGE TO 02 IS IF THEY SEND A SOFTWARE UPDATE TO YOUR PHONE TO UPDATE THE TABLE. AFAIK the software is different for different manufacturers.

For phone such as Nokias which support logos, it is much easier - the logo can be updated. easily.

Here in Ireland, every phone I have seen on Vodafone still has the old name (Eircell) and O2 phones still have Digifone. That is, apart from those who have downloaded logos to their phone.

My phone has now updated. Got a text message labelled Pers (as some others have) Switching the phone off and on updated it.

I pay the bill to Cable And Wireless Business Mobile. They were bought out by another mobile operator but my screen still shows C&W, as does the menu entries in the Manual Network Selection menu.

I have a Nokia 5146. All I'm able to do with it is play Snake, ring someone or send a text. It does do other things though, like when I was in Spain and the name changed to MoviStar.

As far as i know, o2 are not sending out operator logos, not yet anyway. If you want one, and have capabilities of recieving graphical operator logos, go to http://www.o2.co.uk and you will see the option to download it to your phone for free. I have, looks great
