I grew up watching all the Doctor's and wasnt expecting to fall head over heels for the new Doctor but I'm smitten and will need a box of hankies handy tonight as will my teenage daughter.

Christopher has done a tremendous job breathing life into the old character. Now when I think of the character I see a dynamic, sexy, and rather dangerous Dr and not Sylvester McCoy!!!

When Rose appeared to die last week the close up on Christopher's face said it all. Having a brilliant, charismatic actor in the role makes such a difference and hopefully David Tennant will continue with a quality performance.

While I've seen Chris in lots of things over the years I'm now determined to track down all his work and savour them properly. First on the list is The Revengers Tragedy directed by Alex Cox.

Still going to miss him though as the Dr

I would like to add my thanks to the list.

While you are searching for CE's back list, try and find a copy of "Son of God" in which he played Jesus who had come back to earth. A brilliant play in which CD was outstanding.

I'm second that. I think he played Doctor Who to perfection.

Hats off to the bloke. He played a large part in putting Doctor Who back on the map. He did irritate me from time to time with the cheesy over use of the word fantastic when to be quite honest the situation did not demand it but that was not his fault but the writers who must have have thought how many times can we cram this in to each ep! LOL! On the whole he gave a sterling performance which got stronger towards the end of the run. I am sad to see him go as you can't help but think what he would've given us in the second series but alas not to be so onwards and upwards and hopefully DT will take us in a completely different and fresh direction that we will all come to like and love.

Yep, I'd have to agree. He's even turned the wife into a huge Doctor Who fan. I wasn't sureabout him to begin with, but he's won me over with his portrayal; it's a shame he's leaving.

Yup. Have to agree. CE has done a job that can only described as:

FANTASTIC!

Plus all the production team, cast, crew and all the effects people - everyone involved in the whole series. It's been wonderful. Thank you!

Wasn't that called the second coming? I have it on dvd and watched it last week. Unless he plays the son of god in more than one show.

Can I just add my heart felt thanks to Christopher Eccleston for being everything I wanted from a new Doctor, and for helping the programme re-gain it's credibility, and must watch status.
Anyone with withdrawal symptoms could do worse than getting a copy of "The Second Coming" on DVD, but let me point you towards "Shallow Grave", amongst other things. And he was good in "Cracker", and "Jude" oh hell lets face it he's agreat actor. I might even go to see The Da Vinci code, even though I've been avoiding the book.
Sorry off topic again, Basically, Thanks for the last three months. And Good Luck.
JG.

I echo all the above. Christopher Eccleston has been excellent. He will be fondly remembered as one of the very best doctors, despite his brief service.

My only fear is the DT will suffer in comparison.

Here, here! to all of the above - and Our Friends in the North is also on any must-see list for CE, I would say.

The Da Vinci Code - I think he's actually not doing this now.

And yes, CE's DW has been an absolute revelation - he will be very, very sorely missed.

Hear hear!

Agree with everyone's praise of CE - I hope both he and Billy Piper are first in line when the Bafta's are handed out.

I'd like to second that motion. I'm anticipating Lord of the Rings like success at the BAFTA's. I only hope the judges are in on the same wavelength as the rest of us.

I can only add my own full agreement with the rest of this thread - I think it's just a shame we won't be seeing more of CE's Doctor

Paul Bettany is now playing the Monk role in the Da Vinchi code. I like Paul but think Christopher would have pulled it off better.

Chris was brilliant in Elizabeth and Shallow Grave and his death scene in Cracker was very memorable. I've done some digging and you can watch a few clips including the cracker scene at this site http://www.christophereccleston.com/ and this has a good list of some of his work
http://www.prideofmanchester.com/mov...ilmography.htm

He seems to get repeat work with all the best writers/directors so its clear they greatly respect him.

Its interesting viewing the two interviews on the BBC site http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/video/index.shtml . Its clear before he started filming he fully intended to do more than one series.

yep..he has been great as the Doctor.I grew up with Jon Pertwee, thru Tom Baker,etc..was not at all keen on many of the 80's Doctors.
So was not expecting much from a new series..
How wrong I was..Its been a fine first series and I also hope they do well at the Baftas!!
can't wait for tonight's episode!!
