it depends on your taste really. I personally don't understand why anybody over the age of 13 would watch it.

RTD has taken a clapped out joke of a show and injected a healthy dose of emotions, drama and amazing characters to turn it into one of the best shows ever

Why would you follow a whole series you thought was aimed at thirteen-year-olds?
Ah - Maybe you are thirteen?
Or - Maybe your basing your comment on that bit of a show that was on but you didn't actually bother following?

I can't believe your post was made for any reason but to get this very reaction, but I enjoy a discussion...

I watched the first one, didn't like it. Can't be arsed to discuss as you lot are more fanantical than Michael Jackson fans.

It might be a bit early to say it's the best series of the Millenium yet (if we are talking the over the whole 1000 years). But so far I'd say it's the best one from the first 5 years of it. Personally after the first couple of episodes I was saying it's the best UK TV programme for over a decade. Now I'll say it's the best UK, if not world TV programme of my life...all 22 and a half years of it

Its very unusual that I like programmes that have had as much hype and attention as Doctor Who, but this is easilly the best thing I have seen on TV in a long time.

IMO = "In My Opinion"

I really enjoyed the return of Dr Who...it's certainly one of my favourites, but I'm not sure it's my absolute favourite (that's still probably Firefly)...then again, my opinion may change once I've watched the series a few extra times on DVD.

I think the best thing about DW is the cross-generational, cross-genre appeal; i.e. older fans, die-hard SF fans, kids, drama fans, even the people at my work who usually only watch Reality TV / Footballer's Wives were watching it.

Most importantly for me, is that my wife, who's not a huge SF fan, loved it as much as I did, which is a good thing. )

VB

PS - but I think it's important to remember that statements like "best" and "worst" aren't really that helpful / relevant; "favourite" or "enjoyable / unenjoyable" are better ways of expressing subjective opinion... ;o)

The sight of someone using ridiculous abbreviations to state that they don't understand another set of abbreviations is really, really g8.

I love the show and I'm 13! My little brothers loves it too, 9 is he. I've never seen it before, and was very surpised as Sci-Fi has never been my thing, but watching this has open my mind a bit more (I watched Star Wars for the first time because of this! ). Many adults watch it and love it with their kids. All the fans from watching it as kids years ago will be watching it too!

Best programme since Jan 1st 2000 you mean? Absolutely not, IMO. I started off having high hopes for it and watched the first few, but you know that thing where you start watching a show, but maybe then you miss an episode or two and you realise that you aren't really bothered about it? That's basically what happened to me. Obviously the die-hards won't convince me it's un-missable, same as I won't convince them it's totally missable. I guess I just got bored with it. I'm happy that it became a hit, as I loved it when I was a kid and didn't want to see it killed off completely (as would have happened if it had failed), but this time round, not for me. I presume things won't be that different with DT, so I probably won't give the second series another chance, although I may tune in again if they bring K9 back as reported in some paper I read.

i'm 13, i'm a doctor who fan though, and i know quite a lot about the classic series, and i think that the acting in series 1 has to be some of the best the show has ever seen.

Please justify your comments.

For me, this has undoubtedly been one of the best TV series I have ever seen.

I'm in my mid-30s and as many people on these forums will agree, TV loses it's ability to generate emotions within the viewer as one gets older.

This series has done just that. the writing has been of such high quality that I have been on a rollercoaster of emotion over the last 13 weeks.

For God's sake, i nearly cried over the death of a bloody Dalek a few weeks ago...and as for last night's episode. Well!

Obviously, everyone is entitled to their opinions but one thing this series has NOT been is over-rated.
