Spoiler
Filming has already begun on the Christmas Invasion which will be David's first full length appearance as The Doctor. The hour long Christmas Special will be transmitted on BBC One in December 2005.

Russell T Davies says "It will be a great, Christmas adventure that's really big in scale. It will be Christmassy, there's nothing I like more than a Christmas Special set at Christmas!

There's a big story in it for Rose as well as a massive threat to the Earth going on beneath the surface so Christmas as usual!"

Confimed cast...
The Doctor - David Tennat
Rose - Billie Piper

LOL, can you imagine ITV execs faces if BBC1's Christmas Day schedule has "Strictly Come Dancing CS" Eastenders" "Doctor Who CS" "Eastenders" ...they might as well show footage of a roaring fireplace

I have no idea why there was any need to post the original information in spoiler tags as there's nothing we don't know already.

The information about filming having started already is also wrong since RTD was on Breakfast on Monday and he said that filming would start in 5 weeks.

As for monsters, it has widely been reported that the Cybermen will appear in series two and since there was a 1960s story called The Invasion featuring the metal monsters, I wonder of they'll be making a festive appearance?

I wouldn't get too cocky. For Eastenders ITV has Emmerdale - whenever they go head to head ED always wins hands down. As For Doctor Who - if a warm day can cause the shedding of a couple of million viewers i'm sure Coronation Street would have no problem. Doctor Who does not have the untouchable invisibility people seem to think it has (The finale proves that). Corrie would trounce Doctor Who if they went head-to-head.

It remains to be seen, but there's a big difference in the competition of a warm sunny evening compared with another TV show.

I wouldn't get depressed about losing a couple of million viewers - the audience share is the important figure and it was still pretty high.

BTW, I assume the site linked in the original post is a fan site - shame they can't even spell his name properly!

Well yes, if there's any information which might spoil it for others. News that it will star David Tennant and Billie Piper isn't really giving too much away...

RTD has also said it will be very Christmassy - I'm hoping that's snowy ice landscapes, victory for mankind, bit of mulled wine Christmassy rather than Santa and his elves Christmassy.......

i just love the fact that BBC One are showing "The Countdown to Christmas Starts Now" trailers...just befor the longest day, and the temperature hits 86 in London.
Mind you, here in The frozen north of Scotland, Christmas could just be around the corner.
All we need now, is for Auntie to repeat the whole series on BBC3, or every night on BBC2 to fill that difficult hole left by The Simpsons...and the void left by Dick and Dom's Civilisation, or whatever it was.

Thinking about the RTD "Xmassy" comment - perhaps it'll be about materialism, DW and Rose standing against that, for a more noble type of Xmas, goodwill to all men and that. Knowing what Xmas on Oxford St is like, could be a perfect reintroduction for the Autons!

I wonder if David Tennant will look into the camera at the end and wish everyone a happy christmas?

The whole thing will be surrounded by snow and ice. And deep within the frozen waste a colony, suspended in deep freeze, waiting for the day the are awoken by their new master. The birth of a new generation of Cybermen. Not too bothered about the Myrrh and Frankensence, but they sure as hell won't want the gold.

Perhaps he'll get very depressed and suicidal about having no Time Lords left to give him presents and Rose will open up the time vortex and show him what life would have been like without him. Cue angels singing, gaining their wings, and the like.
