I've never started a thread before, and have been waiting for someone to start this one for long enough so here goes...

What was everyone's best moment from the series? The moment that really brought a lump to the throat and (maybe) a tear to the eye and made you love this programme more than anything that's ever gone before?

These, I think, are my top three (of many).

1. The Doctor's final "Rose... you were fantastic" speech and regeneration
2. Jack kissing the Doctor and Rose goodbye for the last time
3. Nancy: "Yes, I am your mummy".

But there are so many others...

Rose's "better life/eating chips" speech
When the Doctor realises that the captured "thing" is a Dalek
Jack's "if you hear us dying..." speech
Hell, the whole of Father's Day

Anyone?

The best moments were the ten seconds immediately before the start of each and every episode.

An irreplaceable rush.

Just before the Dalek dies on 'Dalek' and he says "Are you frightened, Rose Tyler?" and she says "Yes" and then he feebly says "So am I." Hehe. Who'd have thought I'd feel for a Dalek.

Also on Father's Day when Rose's dad says to her "Who am I sweetheart?" and she says "Your my daddy." That made me get a lump in my throat also.

Everything about this series is memorable for me. The Doctor kissing Rose and then the regeneration scene after that was absolutely FANTASTIC!!

Roll on series 2 and thankyou Russell T Davies and everyone for making me feel 5 again!

The scene between the Doctor and Jabe when she tells him that she knows who he is stands out for me. The Doctor sheds a tear at long last!

Also Rose rushing to her father when he is killed at the end of Fathers Day brought a wee tear to my eye too!

'Everybody lives' speech at the end of TEC/TDD
Surely this has to be shown as a feature length repeat

Bit of a theme through the series - who the parents are - culminating with the Emperor Dalek being the "mummy" and "daddy" of the new Daleks

There are just so many great scenes it is ahrd to pick any out.

I liked the ones with Nancy in, especially the 'I am Your Mummy one' and the one where she talks to that man in the hosue about the rations/butcher.

The final scene in the TARDIS was great, certainly the final words of the CE Doctor.

I loved the Jabe/Doctor scene when they were heading down to the big fans.

The scene between Rose and Gwyneth where Gwyneth reads Roses mind was brilliant too.

Isn't it wonderful to have so many really memorable moments to choose from?

For me, all of the above listed, but my absolute favourites are "I can feel it - the turn of the Earth. The ground beneath our feet is spinning..." speech from ep1. Definite goosebumps every time, and the speech at the end of ep 12, "I'm going to save Rose Tyler..." "But you have no weapons, no defences, no plan!" "And doesn't that scare the hell out of you!"

For me there many memorable moments, the whole series has been pretty amazing, but if I had to choose I think it would be:

The starting credits of Rose: I had such a buzz of excitment that as thirty-seven years old bloke, I REALLY should know better.

The end of The Doctor Dances: This was such an incredible piece of well written, well acted, feel good piece of television. This episode also has quite possibly the funniest line of the whole series: "Well, there is a war on, perhaps you miscounted?"

The whole of Fathers day: lump in your throat stuff.

The end Bad Wolf: This was the Doctor at his best, promising to save Rose, save the Earth and just for good measure, wipe out every stinking last Dalek. Superb .

The whole of The parting of the ways: but especially the regeneration scene. To me, it was a very touching end to CE's tenure as the Doctor.

I'll go with Rose's farewell with her father just before he goes out to die (again).

'Yes, I am your mummy' was also very good.

You can tell I'm a parent!

For me it has to be :

"Rose, before I go I have to tell you, you were fantastic, absolutly fantastic...and you know what... So was I"

A brave writer had to write that and I cant think of anyone else who could deliver that line as good as him. RTD, CE & BP must all have known that that speach was so true.

Doctor in a darkened room.

He says "hello, I'm the Doctor"

Small blue light appears - "Doctorrrr"...

The rest is history

Hearing the words: "You wanna come with me?" coming out of the TV set in the next room and nearly showering myself in hot fat, twisting an ankle, kicking my parents' cat and cracking my arm on the door in an effort to catch the first trailer for the first time...fortunately, I'm still asked to cat-sit

Of all of it, the one time I was moved to sobbing like a complete jessie was the "you were fantastic" speech. But for pure joy, you can't beat the "everybody lives" bit the The Doctor Dances.
Also special mention for "lots of planets have a North" and "you must be kidding" in the BB house.

Can't remember it word for word, but it's when the Doc meets Rose for the first time... escaping the Autons.... "I'm the Doctor," and "... run for your life!" Great stuff.

What about that 30-second countdown on BBC1, between The Ultimate Guide and The Parting of the Ways...!? I was gripping the edge of the sofa, a big stupid grin from ear to ear.

Nothing has ever made me get in such a panic making a cup of tea before in my life!!!!

Yes - all of the above

And how about the first 10 seconds of Bad Wolf after the"100 years later" graphic when the camera spins round the Doctor on the floor with Big Brother music ... and I felt a huge sigh of relief as I thought: - Mmmm - this could work!

But overall - SO many good lines. What a testament to the revival that the lines live on as much as - or more than - the special effects.

The one time? You made of ice, La G?

I started blubbing when Jack told Rose that she was worth fighting for, and didn't stop until the end. By the time the Doctor told Rose she was fantastic my eyes were so sore I could hardly focus. And exactly the same happened in both repeat showings. Yes, the plot of TPOTW had holes so big you could have driven Rodrigo's truck through them but what does it matter? This was epic television drama.

"Doc... Tor? THE Doc-tor?"
(great reveal, ruined by being in the trailers)

The whole "Who needs a sonic screwdriver?" bit.

Father's Day - it's a Police Box.

"-- --- --- ---"
(Dalek about to kill Lynda-with-a-why???)

TBH, every episode had *something* I liked, even if I didn't like the story as a whole (which seemed to be the Dalek ones, oddly).

Just watched TPOTW again and now that I have the time to appreciate what is going, the Rose with a Heart monologue becomes more powerful

The Parting of the ways had me crying pretty much most of the way through from when the doctor sent Rose home till the finish.
Also the end of The Doctor dances and most of Fathers day. I'm a bit of a wuss when it comes to sad dramas but I never thought I'd be crying at Dr Who lol.

Dr Who has given me hope for the future of television. It was getting a bit dodgy before it started but it has given me hope. It was one of the funniest, saddest, most entertaining programs I have seen in a long time and if I list all my most memorable moments I'd be here forever
