5 months to go and it's number 21 in the Amazon DVD charts.

But does anyone know what will be on it - apart from the episodes, DW Confidential or the trailers of course

Perhaps deleted scenes - hopefully the version of TPOTW if CE hadn't decided to quit (did it even exist).

What else do we want in the DVD that will fill our stockings at Christmas?

I remember someone on OG saying they had heard that the alternative endings were definitely going to be on it - I hope they're right

I hope the extra material isn't just loads of the interviews etc that we have already seen on the BBC site - I want new stuff

I think there will be extended versions of episodes... the BBFC recently classified two versions of Rose, one of which is listed as 'extended version'... although it's less than a minute longer than the other version. It's also very doubtful that the Doctor Who Confidential episodes will be on there due to the cost of clearing the music used... but all the behind the scenes stuff and interview could surely be used to make an in depth documentary about the whole of the fantastic first series... a 3 hour documentary would be nice.

Yes, I've also heard that the Confidential programs are not going to be on there - I hope we get some new good behind the scenes documentarys to replace them

... on some episodes.

I think the stories about a reshot ending for episode 13 were no more than rumours so if that's the case, there will be no alternative endings.

RTD has also gone on record saying that very little extra material was shot so there will be very few deleted scenes.

I'd like ... a quick-fire compilation of every time the word "fantastic" was said.

It's a bit of a pity that this is being retailed at £60. Kids are big fans of the show but have no chance of affording it.

And if you ask for it then you aren't going to get much else at Christmas.

I am 15 and have a bit of money but i'm not prepared to pay £60 for a dvd box-set.

I think the bbc are over-charging a bit here. The individual dvds are a rip off as well.

£60? You'll get it cheaper than that!

It's still £45! That's quite a bit for a kid who doesn't make a wage.

True, but as it's the equivalent of 5 or 6 movies, it actually works out at pretty good value. The individual DVDs are probably overpriced, but they're for those who can't wait.

Well apart from the possibility of rerecording the sound track which is quite common

As a teenager I had 5 (yes you read it right) paper rounds, and I managed to pay board to my parents and buy my first PC.

I was 15.

It's been stated that DWC will not be included.

I think that RTD has confirmed that they knew CE would not continue past this series after filming only a handful of episodes, so there was no alternative ending to the final episode - which apparently was filmed in January, long before the news of CE's departure.

DWM has also confirmed that this November's boxed set release of the first season on DVD will feature all 13 episodes in 5.1 stereo surround sound mix for the first time, and that the set will have over 200 minutes of special features, with "a special episode" of "Doctor Who Confidential", exclusive to this release.

Yup - sorry - my misreading. Army of Ghosts is the new Bad Wolf - not the new Parting!
