Does anyone know when this phone is going to be released and what the price will be about?

At that price surely a contract phone would be cheaper?

Of you could just buy the K750i and pay £30 to have it rehoused.

You can get the housing for as cheap as £20 in some places and then also flash the firmware for free, but what's the point?

All you gain is airplane mode and a different MP3 player.

Get one or the other based on which one you prefer, it all comes down to preference. The K750i looks more professional and smart and the W800i looks more sporty.

It will do if you swap the cases properly, but remember that doing so will void your warranty.

The D750i is just a K750i that's branded for the TMobile network and given a silver case. The D750i's shell shape and buttons are more like the W800i than the K750i, but you can still swap the shells to match either of these models.

You can also get a silver K750i that's not on the TMobile network and it's currently being marketted as a limited edition K750i. The only difference between this and the D750i on the shell is that the silver K750i has a black surround around the screen.

The silver cases for those of you interested in having a silver K750i are also £20 same as the others.

I am not sure if the D750i has a slightly different firmware or if it's set up to reject an update from SEUS, this could be worth checking out before you get the handset.

Further to my last post, if you really must change the shell on your mobile and want it to be a little different to the standard colours then take a look on Ebay. Already there are some different coloured shells appearing including a pink one!

These don't appear to be official shells, so I am not sure how well they will fit and again fitting one of these will mean your warranty isn't worth a thing.

Thanks for all your help lalaland. Ive seen the actual silver k750 one last week I spotted it on thelink.co.uk as a limited edition. I think that it looks a tad plastic-ey. I'd LOVE to get the black version but Im getting it on U Fix on Tmobile for £29.99. I hate it when companies put their logo on the actual phone (orange seem to like doing this the most)

The site I have been looking at the housing on is www.mobilefun.co.uk but Im not sure if I will need to buy the buttons as well as the casing.

Thanks again for all the info.

Not a problem Maxcherry, we are here to help each other.

I think reading this on the same site that you should be ok
Original Sony Ericsson K750i full OEM housing set in Oxidised Black.

Each set includes:

* Front Housing
* Back Housing (including sliding camera cover, with pre-installed springs)
* LCD Lens cover
* Black keypad
* Battery cover
* Camera Ring
* Mirror
* Flash Light cover
Unfortunately branding doesn't just stop on the shells. Sometimes service providers lock down features of the handset too that other networks allow.
I had heard rumours that the K750i on Vodafone for example has some limitation with MP3 files. Not sure what or why, but I will look in to this if I get chance (unless someone on here has a voda K750i?)

You can of course remove this software branding by flashing the phone's firmware.

It would appear that the Tmobile version of this phone is called Lustrous Blue. That case is also avaialble to be purchased should anyone wish to have a silver / blue coloured W800i like case. Looks better than the Orange one I think and if you don't want the TMobile button you can buy the standard keypad to fit in there.

vodafone are a bitch when it comes to branding the phones software, they have disabled mp3's unless you pay and download them from their site, they is a way around this, thank god you can debrand it and change the CDA to allow it to work on the SEUS. did that to my t-mobile branded k700i.

lalaland I've noticed that there isnt an external button set for the black version, only the silver and orange. Does this mean that I will still use the same external buttons of the D750i? (memory card cover, zoom buttons etc...)

Also, where would I be able to get the phone flashed?

@ Jagger2k. Whats CDA and SEUS?

I've just ordered the D750i now, it *should* be here tomorrow, but tmobile lied when I phoned and said it could be sent to my work adress, but when I actually orderd it before, it could only be sent to the BILLING address.
I'm so pissed off that they are lying to me, even before I sign the contract!! Is this what I am to expect??!?!?

I've not ordered one yet, so can't be 100% sure, but I would expect those buttons to be included or attached to the black casing.
Although the shells will fit either model of phone, the shells are constructed slightly differently.

Carphonewarehouse do standard upgrades, I doubt they would flash a phone from one model to another though. There are many places online detailing how to do it yourself and a popular site for this is Davinci.

Sorry, I might as well answer this while I am typing. SEUS is the Sony Electronic Update System, which is accesable through their website. You download a java client, connect your phone using the supplied data cable (there's a routine to make the data cable act like a service cable), and then run the software. It checks your phone, checks the CDA code and software version and then collects the correct firmware update from the internet for you. It then flashes your phone. (unless you alter the phone in the first place then it will not download W800i firmware to a K750i or vice versa)

CDA is basically a code that identifies your handset to SEUS. It tells it which network you are on and which part of the world you are in. Most companies just use this as intended, but certain companies that selfishly brand their phone change the CDA code to one that SEUS cannot handle and so it will not update the phone at all. This works well for the service provider as it means their branding is never removed, but customers loose out with this as it means you can't get bug fixes and software updates that the rest of us can get (may sound like a small thing, but recent fixes have certainly sped up my phone and made it more stable).
There is a way around this and that's to change the CDA (not the same as changing the IMEI, so it's legal). Once you do this you can use SEUS like the rest of us. Changing CDA is detailed on Divinci and other sites.

Ah the waiting for your new 'toy'. This sucks and I hate it. You know it's coming but you want it now

As for not delivering to your work address, if you order through a website then they normally don't do so, but order over the phone and it's normally possible depending on the network's policy. Some won't do it for security reasons. It's annoying for me because I always get home to find a card saying I've missed delivery and have to drive to the next town to pick the parcel up.
