Edited to add: BTW, he PM'd under the name suestorm, so that's something else cleared up!

I wasn't keen on the "strange man" comment either.

Thanks for that

I dont think any of us would deny that we are a minority, or wish that the whole of TV should have us (or any other section of humanity) portrayed in any way other than how we are.

As we make up between 6-12% of the population, is it unreasonable to have an amount of time being shown, .I am not advocating a pc gone mad thing where each group has to have the exact percntage time on tv, all im saying that with any minority group, there should be a reflection of that in any tv show(more practicably series)

I know you cant be all things to everybody at all times, thats not deireable or pracicable. but it was so refreshing o see a portrayale of a gay/bisexual man on tv in a similar maner to that which the vast majority of us are.. not camp, musclebound, or effeminate- just a (handsome) but normal looking guy. If that portrayal made one person think-oh they arent all a bunch of efeminate ponces after all, or one teenager struggling with sexualiuty to say-ah-im like that-and hes cool-its not so bad then surley thats what Dr W was originally designed to do-Entertain and EDUCATE.

Its a shame that there was any fuss over it at all really.

Perhaps next season he will do a similar thing with a completley different issue

And finally its nice to see this debate back on track with the nastiness subsiding.
Phelings had some points woth making, but to deliberatly atagonise people is not the way to proced- behaviour breads behaviour

Series 2 finale. You heard it here first.

lol @ your comments Andy.... Can't believe someone would create more users for themselves in order to create posts backing themselves up..... I don't know whether to laugh or pity the dude.
lethargic_lad: I hope and pray that the people (if I can call them that!) over at AiCN are not indicative of fandom as a whole. Due to their inability to actually discuss a movie/show (or to keep spoilers to themselves), I rarely look at the Talkbacks. Had I seen the "X-Men" discussion, I would have been tempted to point out that the whole point of the X-Men was that they were a cypher for oppressed minorities. Wasn't aware that Michelle R. was gay - is she, or is it an assumption based on her looks/roles? Slight "Lost" S2 spoiler:
Spoiler
Have they heard that she'll be in S2?

As for "Lost" - great show! C4 really fumbled the ball by not showing this earlier. I can't wait for S2!

The actress is gay rather than the characters she's played....

As for you question in the spoiler :-
Spoiler
That's the rumour doing the rounds, she's going to be a season regular for S2

For more info which may confirm this go to this fake oceanic site: www.oceanic-air.com

In the Travellers section type the numbers (4,8,15,16,23,42)

This will take you to the seating chart page, click the rows for the numbers again to get a wee teaser for season 2.

Can't wait for September to see what happens next!

The users weren't created to back up posts, they were there as the original writer was banned and could not reply.
Perhaps you may want to learn to read threads throroughly before spouting rubbish.
Or is your name an accurate description, and you are too lethargic to do so?

Another lazy writer!
If you had read that thread completely you would have seen that those that held the same opinions as Phelngs included Sony and Pioneer, and every US dvd releasing company, but of course Anthony Haines could not accept that being a pedant was all he was doing

Dude, whether you were banned or not doesn't change the fact that you deliberately pretended to be someone else to back up your dodgy opinions for which there were very few real people to agree with you.

And if all you can do to insult me is make cheap digs at a name I chose of the cuff almost 2 years ago I must be doing something right yeah?

Besides.... i like the name!

If you had been granted permission by the moderators you would have seen that further posts from Phelings made no secret of their identity and thats why they were removed and banned also.
You are commenting on something you only know half the truth about.
If later posts under a different identity were less open I'm sure you'll understand why

What was that about delusions of grandeur?

Ohhhhh, I see now you pretended to be someone else in order to keep your posts on the site.... In that case why bait me with this when I read the thread as thoroughly as I possibly could.

The wording on the disks is to indicate what players the disk is playable on, not how its encoded. I've written codecs for them, you don't have to decode NTSC or PAL because its simply not present (infact I've never even looked into either colour processing system).

I made the delusions of grandeur quote because you referred to yourself in the third person.... sigh, don't you read these threads thoroughly or something?

*sigh* I just hate it when people aren't thorough.

Unless they're just thoroughly annoying like you suestorm, I mean phelings.... Hope you're reading this moderators.... lol!

Dude you're right.... You can encode Pal discs in any region you so desire.... has nothing to do with the whether it's in Pal, NTSC or Secam.

Lol I know, knowing how stuff like this works is part of my job they are digital.

Anyway I'm just fed up with this now, phelings was offensive at first, and then compounded by coming back with different alias and being more offensive.

I'm gay and the only thing that stood out for me as being remotely gay was the kiss, and to be honest why should that cause any problems to anyone?

I found the whole Doctor / Rose / CJ relationship a little rushed. I wish there'd been more time to explore the dynamics, as we really only had Boomtown to see them interacting together. There was undoubtedly a deep non-sexual love between them as well as a bit of unrequited flirtation, and maybe that's meant that the sudden kisses stood out more?

Glad someone else thought the kiss had some sexuality in it... I definitely thought so... You don't hold someone's head in your hands when you kiss them if you don't at least fancy 'em..... At least I don't anyway.

I agree with the earlier poster that potraying a bisexual man in a positive manner (brave and manly) was the right thing to do. It makes a refreshing change I reckon and RTD would've been selling out had he not included such a character in it I think.

So, any of you gay guys seen Kung Fu Hustle yet? Wondered what you thought about the comedy gay character in that? I loved the film but thought the character could cause offense to gay people... Just wondered about your thoughts on that. He was camp as a row of tents but hell could he kick arse!

My only criticism of the whole series is it all felt a bit rushed... would've been better as an american style 22 episode series to better flesh out the characters and the story arc... The whole Big Bad Wolf thing came together very speedily in the end and felt shoehorned in.

And yet, I still love the series and can't help comparing to Buffy's first season, which was also short, a little rushed, but a gem among the doo-doo to most TV.
