I suspect so too, but it'll be interesting to see if they do allow old Who CE to beat new Who DT. Not seen DT myself, but his performance in "Casanova" would have to be something extra special to steal CE's BAFTA. Got no worries if it was anything like the Kenneth Williams impression at the end of DW...

Off topic?

Joe Orton wrote a screenplay for what would have been the Beatles third feature film, but it was vetoed as 'too violent' among other things. Can't rememeber the title at the mo...

Sexiest Doctor Who was Joanna Lumley by the way !

In fact, he's the second sexiest man in the world!! (second to my fiance, and this only my opinion!!)

Being a bloke, I don't think 'Being Sexy' should get in the way of how good an actor DT is, or not.

I think Christopher Eccleston had the face for the role he was playing and kind of looked how you would imagine a time lord to appear, a kind of rough & readiness about him with added sarcastic humour which made him great to watch!

We'll have to wait and see how David Tennent takes on the role, but in my opinion he looks like he should be in a boy band, not playing the role of a time lord!

Hey, I personally was not saying "I think DT is sexy therefore he's going to be the best DW ever!"

I wasn't commenting on his acting, merely his looks! I know that's shallow, but I was just replying to the title of the thread, which again did not implicate that DT was gonna be a good DW because he's sexy!
If he turned out to be a rubbish DW, I'd be disappointed but I'd still think he was good looking! So it's not getting in the way of his acting ability

Incidently, I was a big fan of CE, I'm extremely disappointed that he quit after one series and he is going to be a very hard act to follow. In my opinion, DT is a very talented actor, and I have high hopes that he can pull his role in DW off successfully. But we'll see. It's nothing to do with looks though!

Btw, DT couldn't be in a boyband; he doesn't have that 'pretty but dumb' look

It's all very subjective. I've only laid eyes briefly on David Tennant but he looks like a highly intelligent (and not overly pretty) live wire to me. I think he's a great choice.

I agree... it is all subjective. I thought that when I first saw him too Ruby_

You have to bear in mind as well, that DT is a classically trained actor and highly regarded for his work with amongst others, the Royal Shakespeare Company. He's won awards for his theatre work.

He's got the goods, I reckon he'll make the roll his own, just as CE did before him.

Got nothing against DT, but I still think Richard E Grant would have fitted the Dr.Who character better, not sure if he turned it down, or the BBC didn't choose him?

DT is a very pretty boy!!!!

I agree on all counts. I really liked Christopher Ecclestone as Dr Who - I was very disappointed when I heard he was only doing one series. However I think David Tennant is a great actor, he sparkled his way through Casanova (another RTD programme, of course) and despite being sad at CE's departure, I can't wait to see how DT's Doctor will develop.

I thought this review of the final episode was interesting. Certainly I agree that whenever a regeneration takes place, you automatically take a dislike to the new Doctor - especially if you really liked his predecessor! I know I took years to warm to Tom Baker in the role when I was a child, as I had so liked Jon Perwee!

Plus, at 34, I think they might get wise to him and kick him out!

I agree, he was a raaaather sexy Doctor!

I also found CE strangely appealing, but DT may take the crown in my book, depending on how the character develops. Only time will tell!
