Your favourite ever assisant? (Dr Who OF COURSE!)
Who was/is your favourite ever assistant of The Doctor?
Would do a poll but there are so many to choose from (and haven't even made it in my list). My top 3 are: 1. Katy Manning as Jo w/ Jon Pertwee (Fancied her what more can I say, the Dalek photo shoot always sends a shiver down my spine) 2. Sophie Aldred as Ace w/ Sylvester McCoy (She was cool, especially decking a Dalek with a baseball bat in the school) 3. Matthew Waterhouse as Adric (I really liked him for some reason don't know why, just thought he was good. Maybe cause I really liked the Tom Baker era) |

For each doctor
1st Dr/ Ian/ Barbara/ Susan 2nd Dr/ Jamie/ Zoe 3rd Dr/ Liz (although Jo is good too) 4th Dr/ Sarah (tom baker and lis sladen) 5th Dr/ Nyssa/ Tegan 6th Dr/ Mel (would've been good if he weren't told to leave) 7th Dr/ Ace (sylvester McCoy and Sophie Aldred) |

1st Doctor - all a bit wet.
2nd Doctor - Jamie - brilliant. Best partnership before today's Dr/ Rose 3rd Doctor - well - I fell in love with Jo (along with Lady Penelope). So I have to vote her as my no.1. She was so, er, cute. The classic screaming, running, asking for an explanation, looking puzzled assistant. 4th Doctor - Sarah-Jane was lovely 5th Doctor - none 6th Doctor -none 7th Doctor - Ace was excellent - and I still think the pairing AND scripts seriously under-rated. |

No question about it - Rose. (Were there any other assistants?)

Peri for me, though I imagine that's purely down to my age at the time...

Tegan for simply being the mouth of legs! Feisty, challenging and never afraid to get stuck in while still retaining that sensitive side to her.

Sarah-Jane Smith - until Rose blew the bl**dy doors off the whole concept of the Doctor Who assistant.

Jamie (love a man with the legs to wear a kilt)
Tegan (mouth on legs, say no more) Ace (if you meet a Dalek, whack it around the head with a baseball bat, DON'T give it your DNA!!). |

Jo Grant (& Jon Pertwee): perfect chemistry and a perfect big sister and father figure to and eight year old viewer (at the time).
Most over-rated: Sarah-Jane Smith |

Liz and Babs. The only two companions to have maturity, intelligence, a career, and a bit of non-OTT independence.

Nyssa & Leela.
I just have a thing for brunettes, and women with five-letter names Although S-JS & Romana 1 had their moments, too. As did the Brigadier. And CJ's quite endearing. Tegan... would have been much more useful if she'd been in the 25% of the Tardis that was converted into energy to escape Event One during 'Castrovavla'. Frightful woman. Gary |

For me I think Jo Grant is absolutely superb. The first ever Doctor Who I watched was 'The Green Death' when I was about 4 or 5 and although I remember being scared shi...scared, I remember I used to fancy her a bit. lol. That is very young! Although now I don't much but she is just a superb character and goes so well with Pertwee's Doctor.
Although having seen this latest series and seeing Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper together I think Rose Tyler is fast becoming my favourite. hehe. She is superb and if someone had told me that I'd end up loving Billie Piper doing anything a couple of months back I would have laughed me socks off! Shows what a twonk I am She's lovely!!
